RE: MAC FB Avg Attendance Per Homegame
Adding our rank out of 120 is pointless drivel. With stadiums seating 20-40 (sans Temple) we will never outright comete in the statistic. %capacity is a bit more resonable imo.......

You might want to check your math with NIU.

Why even bring this up? Everyone complains about it. The numbers are all made up anyway. EMU having higher number than NIU is laughable.

Remember, I said we had 320,000 in attendance for the Toledo game. That number is just as reliable as the numbers the schools give.

This is the reason for Eastern Michigan's attendance:

04-jawdrop Didn't think our stadium was that big.

RE: MAC FB Avg Attendance Per Homegame
I know we all tire of the C-USA posters and their superiority complex.....I think that in most years the MAC lines up pretty well on the field with C-USA, football especially in the top half. But one area you can't knock C-USA is relative attendance....they had 10 schools average more home attendance than the MAC's #1 team (Toledo) in attendance, and all their schools are in excess of the 15K avg.

Kent State hasn't come close to that many people in the stands since the first two games, but the new AD aggressively promoted the need to average 15,000. Many alumni bought season tickets even if they could only make it to a couple games.

Agree with KStud with the exception of the recent Army game. The 17K+ reported for that game was legit.

Then the NCAA is wrong. Our capacity is 24,000 which would put us at 74%. I'm not sure how the percentage is even remotely relevant anyway.

I'm pretty sure Huskie stadium's capacity is listed at 30,998, NIU Brad. OU's Peden and MU's Yager Stadiums are both about 24K capacity.

Then like I said the NCAA is wrong if that's the case.

And if we played the attendance games that EMU does, then we could average 30K per year in a 24K stadium and then our percentage would be 125% and probably lead the nation. Yippee.

The NCAA gets their numbers directly from the individual schools. If the seating capacity number is wrong, than NIU is reporting it wrong. If it bothers you that much, than tell NIU they are reporting it wrong and it is bothering you. They will either correct it, do nothing but acknowledge it was wrong, or explain why it is actually right.

RE: MAC FB Avg Attendance Per Homegame
Interesting article on Akron’s attendence problem in the Akron Beacon Jounral yesterday. Fact that a winless team doesn’t draw isn’t news, but the financial impact to the Akron athletic budget is. I didn’t know that the Zip’s athletic department has to pay $1m a year in debt service for the stadium, and now an extra $400K due to the revenue shortfall. Got to imagine that those kinds of bucks are tough to come up with given the funding at most MAC schools.

It will be worth watching the Akron situation. I wonder if the school has bitten of more than it can chew.

Well, I would hope that is the case. But since they are arguing about it so much on this thread and other threads I've seen on their board............
