Congrats Huskies
The game was everything we thought it would be. Close, tough hard nosed football. We knew how good your team has looked but we also knew that the young pups on our team were starting to grow up.

Harnish had a great game. Looked really good on your game winning drive. As bad as this one stings for us Broncos, the Huskies earned it. They did what experienced teams do - make the big play when it is most needed.

Good luck moving forward. Perhaps this IS your year to win it all.

Thanks. Your good sportsmanship is appreciated! It was a great game right to the end. Broncos played tough and were a very worthy opponent.

Thanks, you guys have a heck of a team, that passing attack is really tough to stop.

My fingernails are a lot shorter than they were when the game started.

Cubit's tendency to go for it on 4th down repeatedly instead of taking the points is a big bone of contention among our fans. Despite a shaky kicker, I like Kill's approach better. Take the FGs when they are there.

If we only had a running game.......

Good luck vs your nemesis next week. We get to travel to dismal flats to play the Chimps. I'm thinking we can and will finally win up there.

I wondered about that after the game - even though they didn't make it on 4th down NIU ended up with a long field and made it tough for us to score. Overall, I tend to agree though, take the 3 points when you can get them. Haven't seen your kicker much so I can't say how shaky he is and how much that played into going for it on 4th down.

Best passing offense we have seen this year, if there was a little more in the run game the Broncos would be the most stought overall offense we have seen this year.

Carder is growing up fast and those receivers are disgusting. Defense is a little undermanned but the played their tails off. WMU is scary these next couple of years with Carder.

MEMO TO TOLEDO FANS: Be glad you got these guys early, they may be the most improved team in the MAC from week 1 to this point.

That was my thought for the past week. The schedule Gods did UT a favor having them open MAC play with us. But we were terrible early and UT won fair and square for the first time in 5 years.

7, I actually was referring to your kicker being shaky. Ours is pretty good which is one reason we are ticked and confused that Cubit never uses him.

Oh, thought you were talking about your kicker. Then yeah, no question you should take the FG. Especially when they would have been short ones. That's a sore spot with me watching the Bears, they try to force a play when they're already in FG range, and those points (or lack of them) are huge.

WMU dominated Toledo statistically. Turnovers killed the Broncos.

Thanks Mile High, classy post after a tough loss for WMU.

+1 I really don't have anything new to add other than to echo how impressed I was by Carder and the wide receiving corp of WMU. The WMU offensive line also did a nice job giving Carder time to throw. According to the announcers the achilles heal of the O-line is run blocking. If they get that aspect down...watch out.

Statistically speaking they did because we constantly had short fields, and then in the 3rd quarter with a 31-7 lead we dropped to a prevent defense. I can't understand why teams ever use a prevent defense. WMU ended up throwing the ball 71 times, and ran 31 more offensive plays than Toledo did. That's why the statistics look like they do. 31 more offensive plays than the other team is an awful lot. In the grand scheme of things, they averaged 4.6 yards per play, and Toledo averaged 4.5 yards per play.

There's no doubt they've improved quite a bit, but not sure if they are the most improved team in the MAC. Remember how NIU looked in week 1 compared to now? What about Toledo, losing 41-2 and now being 6-3 and 5-0 in the MAC.

Let's not forget that Toledo has improved a lot from when we played WMU too. Back in those games against OU and WMU, our offense was horrible. In our last three conference games we have scored 37, 31, and 42 points. You can say that it's because of the opponents, but our 34 points against Kent State is the most they've given up all season with the 2nd highest being 27 points. In fact, not counting their game against us, in four other MAC games Kent State is only giving up 16 ppg.

Our offense has come a long way, and with the emergence of Terrance Owens at QB, we now have a new dimension to the offense in the ability to throw the ball down field.

I don't know if Toledo can beat NIU, but we're getting better and better and we are one of the better teams in the MAC right now. NIU is an awfully good team, and this might just be your year.
