Six Days to Gridlock
Here's hoping for some good ol' fashioned government gridlock really soon.
It's interesting how Bush's spending sprees and deficits were derided by Democrats (and rightfully so), yet Obama's mega-handouts are described as accomplishments and 'job creators'.
Any vocal opposition is shouted down with the usual, overused "*********" or "Faux News watcher" insult machine or some variant of the race card thrown.
I certainly became disenchanted with Bush with each passing year, particularly due to Iraq and the rather, ahem, 'liberal' spending. But I hope the GOP clogs Congress and maybe - just maybe - some internal fighting will finally muck up the rubber stampism. Still (with few exceptions) I've nearly given up hope that, when it comes to both of these parties and the presidential elections they bring about, it'll ever be anything more than holding one's nose and rooting for the lesser of two evils.

RE: Six Days to Gridlock
I honestly hope the GOP falls just short next week. It'll be far easier to oust more RINOs and elect a conservative POTUS in 2012 if the Dems don't have "the GOP was at the helm for the double dip" ammo.

I'm scared S-less of the legislative insanity the Lame Duck Congress will try to railroad through. Lame Duck starts November 15, 2010.
I have a feeling if it starts looking really bad the Tea Party groups will end up in the streets of Washington DC. This may be interesting.

Remember the republicans can fillibuster in the Senate. I really don't think Dims could pull off reconcilation on another piece of crap legislation the public doesn't want.

When nothing that either side is trying to do makes any sense, anything that keeps them from being able to do it is fine with me.

If that happens, I'm packing a bag for DC. I'll live on the street if I have to.

There is nothing to stop them from trying. Remember, they have yet to pass a Budget. They can tack anything onto the Budget.

Gridlock is preferable to bad legislation. In fact...I'll gladly pay these clowns just to go home and do nothing.
All I want out of them is....A good justice system....A good defense...Good roads and infrastructure. F the rest of what they do.

THE BUDGET
Congress has yet to pass a Budget. And on a Budget, you can use Reconciliation to pass an Omnibus Bill- and thus tack on Billions and Billions of spending on a majority vote.
If Pelosi and Reid want it, they can ram it through.
Yes, it will cost the Democrats in "PR value" but hey, they don't give a damn-- they are gone in 5 weeks.

And the Bush tax cuts extension. What states require senators be seated right after the election?
