Shelly McCain of the Touchdown Club of Memphis welcomed Nick Saban before his talk here last night - "Congratulations on winning the BCS national championship last year and producing a Heisman Trophy winner. I know expectations are high in the state of Alabama and people expect another national champion and another Heisman winner. Fortunately, those expectations appear to be in reach. Auburn is No. 1 in the BCS and Cam Newton appears to be the leading candidate for the Heisman."

I hope they gave the place a good pressure wash after he oozed out.

03-nutkick Ouch.

Unfortunately, Shelly has underestimated the Cult following, and will probably be found face down in a gutter somewhere tomorrow morning.

RE: sabin in memphis last night
The NEWS Sports section today (TU) quotes Saban as talking up Alabama having two national powers in FB. Who says you can't succeed by "throwing money at a problem"? Alabama throws $100,000 per student (FB player) at EACH of their two BCS programs and it bears great results. There is a possibility of TWO BCS NCs and TWO Heisman Trophy winners for Alabama (FB) universities in two years. ENOUGH MONEY "thrown at a problem" gets superior results. Maybe we should try at least ADEQUATE funding for all 132 of our public school districts and see what results we would get. It has NEVER been tried before in the history of this state--except in football.
