How 'Bout Them Sycamores?
Some of us on this board have followed the rebuilding effort at Indiana State since we played them twice in recent years, and what a great job coach Trent Miles has done there. In case you haven't noticed the 2010 Sycamores are currently 4-2 and atop the Missouri Valley Conference standings. Included in that record is a 59-24 beatdown of Illinois State, one of the MVC's preseason favorites. Quite a difference from the last five years when ISU went 1-10, 0-11, 0-11, 1-10 and 0-11. That is correct, ISU went 2-53 over a recent five year period.

Supporting the adage that you're only as good as your quarterback, ISU finally has a good one in Ronnie Fouch, a transfer from the University of Washington where he started 8 games when Jake Locker was injured. http://www.gosycamores.com/ViewArticle.d...=204880353

Congrats to Coach Miles and all the Sycamores on their recent success. Sycamore Nation deserves to enjoy this after all the misery they've endured.

Friendly fans from what I saw when I was lurking on their message board before our games (never posted, just like to read what other teams have to say before we play them).

Definitely a good story. Also, according to wikipedia, Coach Miles coached WR's at NIU in the early 90's.

winning regularly often makes many fans smug , arrogant and irritating.

losing regualry keeps fans humble and pleasant.

A 35-point beatdown. I'm sure that dashed the ISU hopes of going Big 12 in the near future.

That is cool! NIU knows what it's like to go through some lean years. But, 2 wins in 5 years - that is scary bad! Can you imagine being involved with those teams as a coach, player, parent, or fan?
