Some Simple Numbers!
Please notice below the numbers. Page was nearly 50% our our receptions as a whole in the Wyoming Game and in the first half of the Kent Game darn near 90%. In the second half of the Kent State game, Page was only catching around 20% of our total receptions, aka we were spreading the ball across the field to multiple receivers. MY GOD LOOK WHAT HAPPENED! As a result of other receivers catching the ball, it quickly opened up the run game. The Rockets created some very serious production on the field. 27 points in two quarters of play is powerful and hard to stop. I really hope the coaching staff takes note of these stats for further strategy building. Thoughts from others?
Wyoming Receptions:
E. Page 6
A. Thomas 2
K. Stafford 3
J. Green 2
D. Fluellen 1
Kent State Receptions:
E. Page 14 (10 Receptions in the First Half)
A. Thomas 5
J. Jones 2
T. Cortazzo 2
M. Williams 4
J. Bellinger 2
D. Noble 1

RE: Some Simple Numbers!
Yeah, don't know whether they opened up the book more or whether Dantin found some comfort zone, but the 2nd half was more like it.
Still a ways to go, though. Having 3 TD's called back due to penalties is ridiculous. Good to see the FG's, but at least 1 TD would have helped a lot. Maybe give Kent some credit, though--at least in the 1st half. We ran all over their touted rushing D in the 2nd.
Regarding the penalties, Mark and Tom did comment that at least a couple of those were questionable calls, though. Mark asked Tom, "How did you do this for 30 years? Really-- how did you do this for 30 years?" Tom just said, "I don't know.."

The change started towards the end of the first Q
The game plan seemed to be, make the other team think that Page is our only player, fall behind two or three scores, and then we have the other team right where we want them.
Bwaa ha ha. brilliant.
First scoring drive
pass Page
rush Dantin
Pass Page
pass Bellinger
pass ?
pass Page
pass Williams
pass Thomas
pass Jones
rush Thomas
rush Thomas
pass Thomas
Mostly the legs of Thomas
Second scoring drive
rush Williams
rush Williams
pass Williams
rush Dantin
pass Noble
rush Williams
pass Page
reverse to Reedy
Mostly the legs of Williams
Third scoring drive.
pass Page
pass Jones
pass Williams
rush Thomas
and so on for the other drives but then when they got the lead, predictably, the D got soft.
If not for a great play my Ballard, it wouldn't have been over when the fat lady sang.

Eric Page is better at getting open than our other recievers and more sure handed.
I don't have any problem passing him the ball at a greater clip than others.
When the other players get open they have their chances to make plays too.

I think it's pretty fair to say that Dantin has locked on to Page at times though.

Check BG's numbers from last year- huge passing numbers and most of them Sheehan to Barnes. Does anybody really believe Barnes was better than Page? That being said we did throw (noodle-arm Dantin actually way overthrew) Bellinger?, I think, way downfield. Then it was back to Page but some other receivers stepped up in half two and they got the ball and caught the ball. That can only breed success IMO.

RE: Some Simple Numbers!
We have Cordale Scott sitting out this season. Out of high school, he was a much higher caliber recruit than Page. For the next couple of seasons, Scott may keep defenses honest since he cannot be taken for granted while Page is double teamed.

RE: Some Simple Numbers!
Kent State vs Penn State and vs UT:
PSU rushed for 162 yards (4.1 ypr); Rockets rushed for 167 yards (4.6 ypr)
PSU gained 220 in the air (7.3 pc); Rockets gained 229 yards in the air (7.9 pc)
These are the simple numbers, but I'm just saying . . . .

RE: Some Simple Numbers!
Okay so I revise my estimate from four to FIVE B10 teams that Toledo is equal or better than, adding Penn St. to the list.
