Temptation avoided.
I was sooooo very tempted to troll the zips message board and inquire if certain Roo fans are any more impressed on Monday with NIU than they were last week.
Quite naturally the conversations following the beat down are almost exclusively about how badly Akron sucks.
Fortunately for me the akron moderator prohibits outsiders from roasting roos.
Long time Huskie fans know what it feels like when taken to the wood shed...so it's probably best we keep our comments to ourselves.
Suffice it to say I was one very happy huskie sat nite.
Time to move on and for the dogs to smack Owls right in the temples.
Watching upstart UB win the MAC almost made me swallow my own cud.
Should MAC newbie Temple do likewise I may be forced into swallowing my own ...tongue.

RE: Temptation avoided.
I was also tempted to at least comment to the one guy that seemed to think he knew a lot Some of the others were more realistic and knew they weren't very good. Best to just move on to the next game.

What is interesting to note is that NIU thrashed us without using their usual M.O., running the football. Hell, Spann spent half the night watching from the sidelines. Akron was totally dismantled by NIU via the pass game. You mixed in the run when you wanted to. It looked to me like the Huskies used this game as a glorified scrimmage, a tune-up if you will. Rest Spann, do some tuning on the passing and get ready for Temple. Playing Akron had to be like punching air. Don't look to Akron fans to validate your feelings about your own team and how good you are. Look to the good teams you face and defeat to do that. No flame intended here. I just don't even know how you learn anything from this game. It's the 5th whippin in a row we have received. And it could have been a lot worse actually. Your 3 FGs could have been TDs and we don't score that first TD if not for the muffed punt. I think that would make it 62-7 if my math is correct.
You are a lot better than us. What that means for you I don't know. But I do know for a fact that we are pathetic. This week will be a chance for you to more easily gauge where you are at I think.
Good Luck against the Owls!

I don't particularly like the fact that some NIU fans have wandered over to their forums to comment about the win. Seems a bit...I dunno....douchey.

There are always a few in every crowd most everywhere.
Look at how many Huskie fans worked themselves into a fever pitch over the 5 yr celebration.
Rather sweet it is , I confess, to spoiling both UA Homecoming and title celebration with a Roo thumping.
Nice to also reflect where NIU football has been since 2005 compared to Zips.
Refresh me> Why did the second coming - ie Zip Whiz Brookhardt(sp?) - get the heave ho?

It's much more rewarding to have someone else toot your horn instead of tooting your own. Classless to rub salt in another teams wounds.

It's definitely douchey and shows that we have fans that conduct themselves like idiots as well. Every school does...it's just hard for most to acknowledge that their own program has idiot fans. Akron was entirely outclassed on the field Saturday night and they know it. Leave it at that.

Well they did run the rerun of the last 101 seconds during the game and it seemed like every NIU player was watching. Definitely good way to get the Huskies fired up.

Yeah that kind of banter is what makes sports fun.

In any case, it would be pretty hard to add anything to what happened on the field.
