still bothered by this loss, player & coach comments
the player's comments about wanting to go out and "kill" when they go out on the road and basically "not being in the mood"* at home is re-inforcing that Beckman is not ready for head coaching duties (but this doesn't mean he won't learn)
trick plays going for big plays against us, penalties committed, apparent boredom both tonight and back at the opener by the players
I'm really bothered by the coach right now (ok, and the wide receivers)
This was a game Toledo just didn't want to win. Atleast watching the game sure makes me think that.
Beckman is losing the fans. Home crowds will dwindle again. Atleast until everybody matures...coaches & players.

RE: still bothered by this loss, player & coach comments
We had a dozen or more opportunities to win this game in the second half and wasted every opportunity. Our Defense played to win and our Offense was offensive. Great field position, turnovers were wasted on poor execution and bad play calling. On that last 4th down, why didn't we roll the QB out and if nobody was open, we might have been able to run for a short first down.
One of the most dissapointing losses, that should have been a win.
For a while I looked at my wife and said we've scored 4 points at home this year and both were safeties. Horrible, plus it was homecoming, double horrible.

You and everybody else in the building said that at that point in the game!

It's all about momentum. The Rockets gave Wyoming the momentum early could not recover. It seems this is a problem throughout all our games thus far. And Boise is next!!
The trick plays were not unexpected. Their execution however was. The penalties and special teams play hurt getting back the momentum.
We were in the game except for these lapses in momentum.
The problem the Rockets had was in execution. I am happy to see the heart of our team coming through during the game and we were in it until the end.

Agreed. Down 20-2, not giving up is a sign of heart for sure. Might be they also started to wear on the Wyhoming D? We needed a fifth Q.

This was a missed opportunity as was the Miami game last season.
UT was expected to win this game and did not. Wyoming didn't win this game as much as they were handed it. Last night UT had recruits on campus, a homecoming crowd to impress and good will from the Purdue game that all went down the tube. Now the Rockets have to go Boise State as they start over again. With a win over Wyoming, anything that would have happened in Boise could be overlooked. Now Rockets need to have a decent showing in Boise-execute, keep penalties to a minimum,
get on the scoreboard at least a couple of times and keep their opponent to less than 40 points. The Rockets can't afford another debaucle like Arizona at this point. Dantin needs to start, because of game experience, but Owens needs to be ready if the team is not moving. Boise will blitz alot more than Wyoming and will bring better pass rush with their front. Owens started to panic when Wyoming brought the blitz on 4th down last night and took off prematurely.

Watching the game from a unique perspective the Wyoming defense was just as strong late as it was early. That being said you see that we did not execute our gameplan early on and their defense looked like the Steelers. Once we started gaining momentum, execution started to follow. The damn penalties hurt us. Cassano being out also has caused ripple effects with special teams which was apparent during the game as well.

If I was a top recruit I'd jump on the chance to come to UT after that game. Most probably think they can play at UT's level right now and many may be right. And a decent crowd in crummy weather. If I was a wideout with sticky hands I'd be asking Beckman if I could sign today.

Yep, I said that right before I said, "Christ, we have more penalty yards than offensive yards!"

Not too much to add that hasn't been stated already... The Rockets will bounce back, and the wins will come...

We did get a commit after the game.
