Casano
Heard he hurt his knee yesterday at practice. Possible torn ACL. Out for a while.

Brodbeck is next in line? Hope Casano isn't that badly injured-ACLs are no fun and hard to heal although much better than years ago. Good luck, Ryan.

That sucks, hope he's okay. If not, hopefully he has a full recovery.

This could be a huge loss. I hate to be Debbie Downer, but ... are we now back to the old days of the opponent starting near midfield? Can Penza do kickoffs???

I also heard that Claus was working w/ the FG unit. I'm not sure about the kickoff unit. I didn't hear any mention of Brodbeck

I thought Clay Simpkins was on the team as a walk on. He was an excellent kicker at Wauseon. Does anyone know if he might be in the mix for a kicker this week?

Casano has not been putting his kicks in the end zone. They've been returning them from about the 5-10 yard line on every kick. The difference this year is better kick coverage.

Casano hasn't really showed a lot of field goals this year, but he does have the ability to make field goals up to 50 yards.

Brodbeck was mentioned earlier this year after the kicking debacle at OU and I think Beckman had said Brodbeck was injured so he didn't travel...... Is he still injured?

Not sure, but I don't think he has hardly seen the field since his FR season. We may have to take the RS off of the kid from Wauseon.

It will be difficult to be both the holder and the kicker.

Drop kick would work plus get extra blocker.

So Claus is going to be the FG kicker ... I don't understand why we don't go ahead and use Simpkins if in fact he is going to be our kicker of the future.

RE: Casano
Four downs standard. No punting.

Isn't there a coach somewhere that does that? I seem to recall an article.

I remember that article. I think it was a HS form down south. The coach had some statistical data to back it up.

If he's any good, I agree. Winning 1 game because of a field goal is more important than his red shirt year.

Tough break for Casano and I hope the absolute best for him.

Our kicking game was lousy last year. We have 6 kickers on the roster and the kicking game doesn't seem to be any better this year. Why?

More to it than burning a redshirt. As for having 6 kickers, Penza is a beast on punting. Not so much on FG. Talent and leg is not the main issue - game time execution is a concern. Looking for someone to step up or Casano's knee to miraculously recover 100%. Is it possible? Penza's booming punts were a surprise as he suplanted Claus as the starter.
