RE: Disheartning News
From a basketball perspective, Malika was a victim of following some really good point guards at KSU. She was a good floor leader and defender, but she never had the offense to be the total package those teams needed to get them over the hump in the MAC.

Off the court, she seemed nice enough to me in the little interaction that I had, but I could see where her feisty attitude could get her in trouble if used in a negative manner.

Terrible story. I always enjoyed watching her play even though the offense was lacking a bit she always played hard.

Wow, I was totally floored by that story. And I agree with KStud that she was the victim of too many good guards at KSU during her time here or she may have stood out a little more. Glad she got to meet and get mentored by Jamie Rubis! So sorry for her now and seems like a broken family didn't help her any either which is something endemic in our society with these inner city kids.

Here's a link to the news story and video of Malika's father hugging Ross's father and apologizing outside the court house.

RE: Disheartning News
The issue featured a series of articles on woman in sports so I was excited to share it with my daughter. ESPN did a great job with the issue. When my daughter said there was an article that featured a KSU basketball player, I didn't give it a second thought. Then I read the article... Ugh!
