UK wants first crack at employees' paychecks

Reb once cited a link to DU where they were proposing this.
Unbelievable.
It's always the same issue, if someone wants the gov't to do this let them. But why do these people always want to force this on everyone?

I remember that. They were ALL on board at DU. That is the mind of the liberal. Mach probably holds the same belief.

Quote:"If HMRC has direct access to employees' bank accounts and makes a mistake, people are going to feel very exposed and vulnerable," Bull said.
And the chance of widespread mistakes could be high, according to Bull. HMRC does not have a good track record of handling large computer systems and has suffered high-profile errors with data, he said.
Gee, sounds like a great idea.

I've read that the US gov't wants access to your 401k, using your money and giving you an IOU.

What's next? When we go to buy something at a store do we give the money to the government who then pays the store who eventually gives us the food we needed last week? Does the store give money to the government to pay its vendors? Where does it end?

An idea that, not so coincidentally, is backed heavily by unions whose members don't have 401k plans but rather pensions.
