Do I get credit for the Alma Mater?

From the beauty land Ohio comes a universal praise. 'Tis the song of Alma Mater that her sons and daughters raise. 'Tis a hail to Kent forever on the Cuyahoga shore. Shall we join the loving thousands as they sing it o'er and o'er. Hail to thee our Alma Mater. Oh, how beautiful thou art. High enthroned upon a hill top reigning over every heart.

Ask and you shall receive.

Just go down the page until you see "listen to the fight song" right click and save the file to your computer. No singing though.

HOLY CRAP the victory march words are there and there is a second verse! Who knew?

EDIT: And there is a hymn? Why did I not know this. Must play on my piano must learn every school song ever...

Awesome! Thanks for the link.

In absolutly no way am I putting a ksu education down, but kent is a place where the people from my school and neighboring schools go to party, the types of kids who don't really care about school. Don't get me wrong I love kent as much as anybody I spent a lot of time on campus when I was younger because my grandma was a sorority mom and thats why I am such a fan. Now I may love the sports and overall place, and I wanted to go to kent for a lonnnggggg time, other schools offer so much more. The schools I am favoring are osu, Penn state, purdue, and illlinois. Once going to these schools I realized Kent was far behind other schools. While these schools have more funding, I also went to ball states campus and it's beautiful there, everything looks new and well kept. I just don't see that as much at kent. The city is lacking, half of the student population doesn't care about anything except alcohal (I know 50+ people at kent so I'm not just guessing), and much is out dated. I know this project will improve the campus and surrounding area greatly which surely will help get more students, but unless some standards are raised with the majority of the students there, ksu won't develop into a higher end school. All people ever see on the news or newspapers in northeast Ohio about kent is riots or parties and things like that. Improve the perception of the school along with the school pride, and making it look nicer, and I'm a golden flash.
I get what you are saying bro, but you are trying to find pineapples in an apple orchard by comparing Kent State to Indiana schools. Indiana has much better funding for higher ed, but if you are going to go there, you will pay out-of-state tuition. I've been to a Purdue game, and West Lafayette is my second favorite college town. But it does help a campus and college town out when 100k+ people come to town for games several times a year. Not to mention Purdue Basketball draws good too.
As far as who goes to college for what reason, remember 70% of college freshmen will not graduate. So most people do go to Kent to party, but they do that everywhere else in the country too.
As far as looking old and out dated, yes, Kent does lack there. I'm hoping that LL has an idea to change that. I think this project will go a long way to changing that.
Lastly, don't base a school's education on the superficial things. Most people do this, but it can be a mistake. Kent is working on improving the superficial things to match the quality of education. The quality of education here is great. It is the same as making an opinion on a school's education based on how good their football team is. If a person wants to become a nurse, they go to a good nursing school, not a school with (insert superficial item), and also has a nursing program. But it is like anything else, it has it's good programs, and programs you would go somewhere else for. If you want to be an engineer or architect, everyone knows Ohio State or Purdue is a good school.
I respect your decision to go to whatever school you want to go to. Just make it a smart one. I can even respect it if you don't go to Kent State because you lived in Kent your whole life, and you just want out. If you want to know why I chose Kent, just ask.

I must be odd because I chose Kent primarily on how nice the campus looked. New York offer great programs and schools but there are only a few schools that are in a community that are not tiny one horse towns or in the middle of a city (like Buffalo). The only one that really fit was SUNY Binghamton but that was in my hometown so that was out (no marching band too so that did not help it). Kent State's campus has many charms if you ask me and has a great campus life...except on weekends.

Great point. Which is why, if you listen to L2, one of the reasons why revitalization of downtown Kent is so important to Kent State. He believes students ( not to mention faculty and staff) will hang around Kent more with more places to shop, eat or just hang out. If we want the 24,000K on campus to go to a game on Saturday first we need to get them to be in Kent.

Being from New York I had no choice but to stay in Kent every weekend every year I lived there. I loved it. There was always stuff to do but most of the people I knew that left went home and did nothing special. It was so weird. It was like leaving was just what you do and you do not think about it. I do think building up the city of Kent is a great idea though. Even if it did not add students I would be happy with the new stuff and it makes the area more special.

EDIT: Forgot to continue the Victory March

WE WILL SHOW OUR FOES WE'RE OUT TO WIN, WITH MIGHT AND MAIN WE'LL RAISE A TRIUMPH DIN THROUGH THICK AND THIN!

We'll figure out some way to get this done. Basically, it's a once in several generation time to get a big bond, but we've got to figure out how to pay the interest.

Thanks for all of the responses everybody! Not entirely related to the topic, but take a look at the renderings of phase 2 for Risman Plaza. Yes they are not done yet and won't be until next fall. Hopefully more renderings start coming out soon:
