What happend to all the great MAC QBs?
MAC seems to be pretty weak this year.
I started looking at the QB position and see no Dan LeFevours, Big Bens, Bruce Gradkowskis, Fryes, Batchs, Leftwichs, Davis, Hillers, etc.
I always thought QBs carried this confernce. Now look....
Young and unproven.
This has got to be the weakest group of MAC QBs in at least 15 years.

They are young, but not bad. Carder already has 7tds. Radcliff is averaging over 270 a game. 4 of them are averaging over a 65% completion percentage, with another 3 over 60%. They are young and will take their bumps this year, but by the end of this year we will be talking about this group being a strength.

They are not bad like Bronco said, YOUNG... Have not seen Radcliff , but saw Carder & Schilz in their 1st college starts and they have BIG upside. Keith & Dysert can play.

Agree with Chibronco ( ) and NIU05. A look at the class standings for most of this group says most of what we need to know. Plus, NIU's Harnish has played in just one game and likely is not 100% yet.

"What happened to all the great MAC QBs??"
Graduated, got drafted by the NFL or used up all their eligibility I guess.
Yeah, there sure are a lot of young ones (and inexperienced) ones now in the MAC, all at once it seems....

I have seen Carder, Dysert, and Radcliff play so far this season, and all of them are showing the potential to be top shelf QB's. Nothing that some experience can't cure.

So two years from now we will have 7 Sr quarterbacks with atleast 3 years of experience barring no injuries. Thats going to be one hell of year. There should be a good MAC turn out in that years draft if they keep their numbers up like they are.

Keep an eye on Keith Wenning for Ball state. He's from my high school so he must be good. He relieved Page last week and did reasonably well for a true frosh ( yeh I know, they lost to Lady Liberty ).
Anyways, there are a lot of young QBs this year. If nothing else, I think the MAC games this year will be very competitive and maybe we'll see a few QBs distance themselves from the pack. I'm hoping Schilz will be one of them.

Schilz reportedly has the best arm maybe ever at BG and it's been awhile since a Freshman has been the starter from Game 1 at BG. I will get my first look at him on Saturday.

In a few years we'll be able to call ourselves the QB Conference once again.

RE: What happend to all the great MAC QBs?
Calling ourselves a QB conference is not only about how many alums we send to the next level, although we do take some glee pointing that out to people. While some leagues point to their rugged defenses, this league has become known for producing QBs who can fare well against BCS level competition. The spread offenses like to sling the ball around, are tough to defend against and help to negate some of the potential mis-matches in personnel.
The fact remains that this league is a QB conference. Without a quality QB and passing game, it is tough to win in the MAC. Of course, defense wins championships but without a strong QB leading your offense the sledding will be tough, unless your D can shut everybody out.
In high scoring, pinball type conference games, teams with a ball control, run oriented offense succeed only if they don't fall behind by more than a TD or two. Hard to play catch-up if you don't have a quick strike offensive capability.

Is the BSU coaching staff not high on Kelly Page any more?

I'm still waiting to see that, i would love for that to be true. NIU desperately needs a good QB, seems to be the position that holds us back from being an upper-tier non-BCS team every season.
