JMU beats Va Tech
Wants to play Boise in a BCS game.
Is this one of the biggest upsets in NCAA history.
(yes, I know James Madison is a very good I-AA team, but they beat a top 15 team. Rivals or exceeds the Appy State win over UofM).

Michigan was top 5 actually when Appy State came into their stadium and beat them.
I would say the JMU upset is on par but don't forget that JMU probably had 10,000 fans at that game so it was like VT hosting ECU or something rather than Cal Poly.

Michigan was top 5 only because the season just started and people expected DickRod to bring some Ws, not like they finished up anywhere close to 5th as the season progressed. Another reason why they don't need to rank teams until they're about 6 week into the season.

That was the previous coach's last season. Michigan actually beat Florida in a bowl the same season they lost to Appy State. Toledo beat RichRod's first team.

emusteve, Villanova is better than JMU maybe their games with Temple should garner a little more respect. Villanova might be able to win the MAC. The CAA is one tough FCS conference. Richmond beat Virginia last year.

+1000%..... People underestimate the ability of the top FCS teams. The comments in the Temple/Villanova thread were ignorant.

Agree completely.
I for one completely respect these teams like 'Nova, JMU, Appy State, and some of those 'directional' schools with the word 'Dakota' as part of their name.
South Dakota's win over Minnesota has been glossed over 'cause of what JMU did today.
Cal Poly almost beat a BT team last year. One of the Dakota teams did, I think.

It was William and Mary that beat Virginia last year, not Richmond. Went to the WM game last night and wanted to make sure they got the credit they deserved. Richmond beat Duke awhile back.

I hope that VT doesn't win another game this season. Not that I have anything against VT but am tired of hearing about Boise State.

Yeah. Why would we, as MAC fans, want a non-BCS team to succeed?

I went to Toledo and root for Toledo. I do not root for Boise State or the WAC/MWC. If, hypothetically, BSU were to win the NC, nobody is going to say "wow, I guess Toledo (or Ohio in your case) is a better team than I thought." And there is no "if BSU wins the NC, that proves that the BCS is a bad thing" because all it proves is that if a team is truly that good, BCS or not, they can still win the NC. I just don't see how BSU winning anything does anything for me as a fan of a MAC team.
Besides that, I choose to root against them because when I see them on TV, their WR Pettis always seems to be a punk. Just my opinion, of course.

I hope they lose one more game in 2 weeks, against CMU, and win out. It would help our SOS.

Toledo stands to gain money when Boise makes a BCS game. How about that? How about poking a hole in the paper-thin logic that no team outside the BCS conferences are worth anything?
