Nope. Only news is that BYU signed an 8 year t.v. deal with ESPN for home games and will play 5 WAC schools, home and home, over the next two years.

I think the WAC is taking this time to try to figure out how to remain a BCS conference by adding FCS programs, forcing Neveda and Fresno to stay beyond this year and getting some money from them.

MWC and C-USA seem to be standing pat and trying to force an AQ BCS Bowl tie-in with some type of play-in championship game. All up hill battles from what I can tell. But things can change quickly as we've already seen.

Ok...thanks.

I've been reading of some move to bring Montana and Montana State into the WAC. But I was thinking both were 1AA football programs (or whatever its called now). Is the freeze from going 1A to 1AA over or something?

No, but the moratorium will expire in a couple of years as I recall.

The WAC has been so weakened that it can not raid any FBS conference; it can only hope to capture a couple of FCS schools when the moratorium is lifted.

The WAC is on life support; the agreement with BYU for football is for two years. Once BYU gets on its feet as an independent, it will have no use for any of the WAC schools other than maybe Hawaii and USU.

they what do you expect to accomplish blasting Tech on the Sun Belt board?

Keeps him from crying over the fact that the Big East is still not calling them.

tis far better to dream of the BCS, over pining away for Conference USA...like Tech.

what's wrong with being in a conference with Rice, SMU, UTEP, and Tulsa; who we loved playing with in WAC. We all know CUSA is better for Tech from a geography standpoint

Problem with your logic...

There are more than a handful of schools that are better for CUSA than Tech if you are looking at geography.

That makes sense. But which is the conference right now with the strongest leverage to conduct a raid? CUSA? I know Memphis has been wanting to get in the Big East--so if this happens, is the CUSA that attractive any more?

Tech almost killed Sunbelt football. ULM helped make it a reality.

BYU has a campus on Oahu and generally views the Pacific as prime recruiting territory. So I think that series will continue.

Plus, I think BYU will consider it in their own interest to "build up" USU a little. Sort of a bank-shot against the Utes now that they have bolted for the Pac-12. I am not at all sure about this, but one thing you can be sure of is that BYU/LDS are playing a very long-term game. Cultivating a series with USU could well bepart of that.

I remember when Tech whined about football in the SBC for years...and the moment the SBC made a commitment to create football, La Tech bolted.
