I think with all the press this has gotten, it will help with the selling out of the stadium. I could be wrong, though.

The line has changed form -4 (MTSU favored) to +3 (Minnesota's favored)

Even if Donnell forgives the $1500 loan debt, doesn't that $1500 then become a gift? And then it's a gift to a student-athlete. What are the rules on that?

If he's not a booster (i don't think he is) then I'm not sure it matters.

A $1500 gift form a former sports bookie would be a huge problem.

Yep. A dumb*** move for sure. If he has to sit the entire year, then he may not play any kind of pro ball-- Canadian, UFL, Arena, indoor, etc.

Hopefully he learned his lesson, but I'm proud at the way my university handled the situation.

This may not matter very much, but if he does sit the whole season, he can still make it to the NFL...He's no Dez Bryant, but he sat the whole season...Jorrick Calvin sat and he was drafted...only played in TROY for one season. I hope that he actually makes it back by the TROY game...I bought the tickets to see him get shutdown again...04-cheers

its not necessarily a booster, all he has to be is a fan who bought tickets to a game at one point

The loan is the violation of NCAA rules not the nonpayment of it

RE: Dasher Will Miss the Minnesota Game
f there were any huge problems the admin would not have asked for his reinstatement. It's pretty cut and dry at this point. NCAA will decide if he received the loan because his plays football at middle or not. If they decide it was he will get 4 games. If not it will be time served so to speak. Massaro expects an answer within 7-10 days. Massaro also said that the possible rules violation was not improper benefits, but rather a amateurism issue. Which is much better than improper benefits. The trouble is Donnell's story changes. He first said he had never heard of Dasher. Then when asked if he would have given the loan if Dasher hadn't been a FB player he said, "No, probably not." So who knows what they will rule. Either way I think 4 games at most. We could get lucky and it be less. We see in 10 days or so.

I remember when I was in school (1986), ASU (1-AA at the time) went into Memphis with Dwayne Brown at QB. He was from Memphis, and in his final year at ASU. He broke curfew that Friday evening before the game, and was suspended for the game. Our backup came in and laid a 30-10 beating of the little Tiggers.

Moral of the story: Be careful what you wish for...

this season, we need every MTSU first stringer to take money or break a bone if we want to win...coach Porter just kicked our best RB off the team...he's drawing a line in the sand on "thuggery"

it's actually refreshing...he already has a pass for this season INHO...just like coach Pastner last basketball season.

i don't have any "delusions of grandeur" about this team...

A forgiven debt is also taxable income. Hopefully "they" don't get involved, nobody needs that.

Is Kilgore really 6'3" 178#? That seema kind of wormy for a D1 quarterback. I doubt he can take much punishment.

On a rare occasion, I've seen thin men that can take a beating and act as though they were barely touched. Holcomb was about his size and played in the NFL for years. I just hope he knows how to slide and is aware of his blind side. We don't need him out in the first game. He does have JUCO experience, so it's not like he's coming into the game completely green.

He certainly could have used this season to bulk up. Do you guys have an emergency quarterback behind these Kilgore and the other guy?

He needs to draw the line when he gets down to 22 players left on the team.

Stupid thing to say. Dez Bryant still found his way into the NFL despite issues way sillier than taking $1500. Dwight Dasher will get pro football tryouts.
