Big 3 ? How about soccer, tennis, volley ball, softball, etc. You are trying to parce an answer. I also do doubt that you have superior talent to UNT in men's basketball.

I hate to even post in these threads about Tech but,

Are you kidding? Last year Tech had a 6'5" shooting guard (Gibson) that will play in the NBA at some point (hurt at the end of the year). Rolle 6'11" 2nd round NBA draft pick (hurt at the end of the season). Olu Ashaolu 6-7 g/f who will be at least a 2nd round pick one day.

Two of Tech's best players were hurt before the WAC tournament and it cost them a trip the NIT at a minimum.

The OP made the claim that NT had more talent than Tech on the BB team which was false, IMO. It is a fact that NT has been to 2 NCAA's. Tech would have ran the table in the SBC with a healthy team last year. The SBC was weak last year and NT received a 15 seed. Tech would have been a 12 or 13 seed and in line to win a game if two of the big 3 had not gotten hurt.

I understand that Tech posters and the way Tech left the SBC pissed everyone off but there was no team on this side of the Mississippi that would not have done it at the time. There were several Texas schools in the conference when we moved and there was no other real homes for Tech. Tech was miles ahead of any team in the SBC at that point. Tech had been ranked in the top 25 and had several wins over BCS schools. Only in the last couple of years has the SBC as a whole final caught up to Tech in total wins against BCS schools.

There is no team in the SBC right now that will turn down an invite to CUSA, period. Tech is just doing what every other SBC school is doing and that is waiting on a CUSA invite. If it does not come, I look for Tech to move back into SBC. Every poster can say no but it will make too much sense for all the AD’s that it will happen.

This is a stand alone structure, not attached to stadium yet backs right up to south endzone. It is designed whereby most space is or will be utilized as offices, meeting rooms, auditorium, and classrooms with less than half devoted to athletics (club seats, dressing rooms, etc). They have less than half the money pledged at this time with a two year goal. The building was designed whereby they can utilize their fall back plan, state funding, for the classroom, auditoriums, etc if funds arent pledged within the time frame. This, however, will hit a snag as ULL can already attest. They wanted to build their student center, over half the funds already collected thru student fees, but board of regents are balking because "it wont look good during these troubling financial times" although future fees will cover entire cost. Times are hard, some say colleges funding will be reduced by another 25% next year so chances of getting state money to finish this deal within next 10yrs are slim to none. Now, if tech raises the money on its own then more power to them, history is not in their favor though.

Tech is building this with private funds and have more than half the needed money. I personally think it would go faster if Davison would just give the rest of the money, lord knows that man could afford it

Tech will build it with private funds IF they can raise that much. They have never raised over a million or so for any one project (I cant speak for the basketball arena because that was a long time ago and I dont have the details). This is deliberately designed whereby the athletic use space is clearly identifiable and will be covered by donations. The majority of the space however is classrooms, auditorium, offices, etc which QUALIFY for state funding and the fall back plan to to call on the state to cover that after about two years. If this isnt the plan then why didnt the designer come out with a true end zone structure including seats. It could easily have been made into a bowl at that end giving it a true stadium look rather than a large brick and glass wall facing the field. Sure, tech like other schools have donors with the bucks to get it done, question is whether they will do it or not. I hear there is extreme frustration on part of techs heavy hitters because they pitch in and the general fan base only wants to pitch in $40. or so.

RE: Let Tech Starve...
BYU officially pissing on the WAC should make it interesting for Tech. WAC sounds pretty much dead at this point.

RE: Let Tech Starve...
I agree about letting Loserana Tech starving. But what about taking back UAB. WKU had a great rivalry in basketball with them.
