It was the Week Before College Football
It was the week before College football, when all across the nation
No one was stirring except Quan Sturdivant smoking it out at the local gas station.
Bagwell fields been mowed and painted with care,
In hopes a BCS invitation would soon be there.
The message boards each proclaimed their team the best in any town,
While they had visions of typing the ultimate smack down,
Papa Lou & Lee Corso were even ready for football to embark,
If only they hadn’t forgot where they parked!
At an apartment out on the lawn a strong odor was emianating out,
It was just Sweezy and the gang hanging out,
Ut Oh the Police came in and found the stash,
Next time hide it in the trash.
The NCAA shined their flash lights all around,
And lit up Mark Nelson now he drives a bus for greyhound.
When what else to their wondering eyes might appear,
But Marvin Austin’s in Miami having a cold beer.
Around the corner popped baby blue caddy with nicest rims they make,
I new it had to be John Blake.
More rapid than angry rams his courses they came,
And he wistled and shouted and called them by name.
Come on sports radio talk show guy!, Don’t hate on me message board poster!,
Come on Marvin!, Don’t hate on me Corey Miller!, Come on Steve Spurrier!.
So up to Hill the reporters and alumni flew,
Butchie played alittle defense and did the best he could do.
Finally everyone realized College Football was only days away,
NCSU, ECU, and even UNC would be ok.
If only the action on the field can measure up to the anticipation,
This will be an outstanding season across the nation.
Tarheels everywhere eyes lit up with glee,
Just how good might thier defense be!
They prepared the wine and cheese,
And asked Butchie to go undefeated please.
State fans dreamed about a home run hitter,
And were thankful he wasn’t a baseball quitter.
If they don’t go to a bowl game they are gonna have a cow,
But if they do maybe Tom will get to keep his job now.
The Pirates admired all that was theirs,
A new video board and a ton of stadium stairs.
They listened as the nay sayers told them they had no chance,
Pirates relish being the underdog and are aiming for the big dance.
I can’t explain how I feel,
College football is a very big deal.
Tailgating never seems to get old,
Lets paint this season Purple and Gold!
