Tech? No preconditions. If ULM is the geographic fit for their division that's how it is.

NMSU? Geography sucks but if wenwant to go to 12, they male sense n

I've heard NMSU left on good terms and would be welcomed back provided the SBC was interested in expanding. Tech on the other hand, might have probelms getting enough votes, but it would be close. Things continue to get interesting.

Someone needs to change this thread title to "when the WAC implodes".

Who would be 'yes' votes and who would be 'no' votes?

Boy, if I had that answer! I could only get this comment from within AD's office, not willing to go on the record about ongoing SBC discussions.

Conf USA is the one Non Power Six conference that I would like to go to. I hope it happens, but I do think the Sun Belt is decent now that we have two guaranteed bowl tie ins.

Interesting...I would think CUSA would knock on Temple's door before they went knocking on anyone else's door. Temple has a growing football program and history in its basketball program.

You don't know much about Temple and basketball if you think that Temple football would dictate what conference they play in for basketball. The Atlantic 10 is so much stronger than the CUSA in basketball it's not even close, and Temple would not give up it's local rivalries in Philly.

I feel like CUSA is going to want to go after a team with pretty good basketball before they look at any other sport. They usually keep a relatively high conference RPI, so the last thing they want to do is pick up a school with only average basketball.

just my opinion..

Coosa will be going after a strong football school, if they add anyone. This is per my MT sources, so we shall see.

Most of their schools are average. Take Memphis out and their RPI drops way down.

RE: If WAC implodes---does NMSU have SBC home?
In terms of votes. I think the only way NMSU would have trouble coming back is if the Florida Schools dont want to make that kind of trip. but they'd probably easily get outvoted. Most of the West schools would open them with open arms

LoserTech is another story. They've shunned us alot lately. They treat ULM like a disease. They ignore ULL. They bribed the independence bowl to keep ASU and ULL out of the bowl a couple years ago... and thats not even going in to what they did when they left the league

In the end they make too much sense to not allow in. Especially if we do want to go to 12 teams, and the conference would get a gigantic Football boost from adding them and NMSU. But they will have to do alot of backtracking first

Personally id let NMSU in without a second thought. but Id make LTSU beg and plead for quite a while

Bet if we expand we are looking at 3 guaranteed and a back-up

Have you guys read some of the comments on the LT board?

Wow is all I have to say. As far as I'm concerned the only team we should allow back in is NMSU.

I await the national recognition that playing Texas State, UTSA, and Sacramento State will afford them.

Didn't the WAC just get stronger? Where is this weakness about the WAC coming from? The MWC is the one in trouble...if TCU leaves, they're 'up a creek'. There are also rumors about Nevada and Fresno turning down MWC invites as well as Boise rethinking their move.

Again, if anybodies in trouble here it's the MWC.

Today promises to be interesting.

I hope the Sun Belt confrence leadership is holding firm to its position of strength and adding members based on that instead of offering life rafts.

LA TECH TIMELINE
Denial (this is a top conference with a good TV package and three BCS appearances!)

Anger (The commissioner blew it. Even though 16 schools got out while the getting was good since 1999, and Tech tried desperately to get out, the commissioner could have made it great despite none of us liking the others enough to stay)

Bargaining (If they will kick out ULM, and let us host all the championship events, give us an extra share of the money, and give us a special waiver to leave without notice... then we can join the Sun Belt, if not we'll be a power with Texas State, UTSA, and Sacramento State)

Depression (Kill the program, its not worth it. How can we cross all these bridges we've burned?)

Acceptance (Time to go play some games and compete for bowl games and conference tournaments our fans can drive to.)
