RE: ESPN/Insider Top 2011 Oklahoma Football Prospects
Tulsa gets more Oklahoma recruits than Oklahoma and probably OSU. Tulsa has more Oklahoma scholarship players than OU. Some how our marketing dept should be able to make some kind of hay out of that......such as " the real Oklahoma football team".................."where Oklahomans go to play football", etc, etc......something that tells the people of Oklahoma more of their kids play at Tulsa than OU.

Tallgrass, do you know much about Naff and Gonzales from Del City? Gonzales seems to be a bit of a sleeper, while Naff is being recruited by a lot of schools.

The reporting of recruits in Oklahoma has been as uneven as I have seen it. It appears that the "recruiting gurus" lost their ability to feed of OU and OSU sources to report on recruits.

Naff was totally unknown beginning of recruiting in April. Now I think he has about a dozen offers...a bunch of Big-12 offers. The Daily Oklahoman had an article on him recently and I think he is down to Missouri and TCU as his final two choices. Google Daily Oklahoman and Naff and that article might come up.

I don't know anything about the QB but he too was left off the early recruiting reports which, for me, was SoonerScoop.

SoonerScoop Top 50 had been my main source on Oklahoma recruitsfor the past years when they expanded from Top 20 to Top 50. Now it is premium content and inaccessible and I wonder if they did that because they didn't have an accurate handle on Oklahoma hs recruits. It was available free earlier this year but they since made it premium content. It was fairly accurate but its preseason what totally wrong. I have since gone to ESPN Insider for Oklahoma recruits.

I always used offers as my "star" system to rate recruits. It works well in Texas but it doesn't work so well in Oklahoma because we don't have as many out of state schools recruiting here....too many recruits scattered all over the state. And it is time consuming for an out of state school to chase around the state...although the various camps alleviate that a lot. So I wouldn't be worried if the QB doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles with a huge list of competing offers. The TCU staff has more than proved they recognize talent. I think what I am trying to say here is that many Oklahoma kids are well known and receive a lot of national attention. But those Oklahoma kids that are very good (but not a 5-Star or 4-Star) often get overlooked. TU has made a living off these Oklahoma recruits and built its program based on them.
