My recruiting reform
After all the talk of over-signing and the messes of athletes being offered in 7th grade etc, my official reform to recruiting proposal.

No contact except at school sponsored camps until reaching age 15 or entering 9th grade.

Eliminate all signing periods. Once a potential student-athlete reaches age 16 he or she may sign a national letter of intent. Once the letter is signed by the athlete and parent or guardian, he or she counts against the signing class for the year they are scheduled to graduate. (ie. a 16 year old in 10th grade this year counts against the August 2013 enrollees).

A school cannot replace a signed athlete until one year after they were scheduled to enroll if they are unable to get into school or be eligible but the school must award one year of aid if they enroll whether they make the team or not.

If Alabama wants to sign 25 sixteen year-olds today for the 2013 class, more power to them but they are done signing for 2013.

RE: My recruiting reform
Makes too much sense. Too many SEC teams would be in trouble.

RE: My recruiting reform
A gambler of a coach could screw up the program for plenty of years after he's fired. I don't like it.

Only if you have a weak or gambling AD. A letter of intent has to be signed by the AD as well.
