The sea of red in the athletic convocation center! For you youngins that would be the capacity IU fans there to watch their 2nd game tilt against St. Johns who rooted for that poor lil underdog directional Michigan school, despite former Knight guy Don DeVoe helmed the Turkies.

Clemson 1998 will always stick out as the biggest for me.

Though it was no huge 'upset' or big-name, that bracketbuster win over College of Charleston was a thriller.

Broncos won four in a row at Madison Square Garden under Buck Read from 1943-46 (beat CCNY, Brooklyn College, Manhattan, and St. Johns).

In 1947 beat Michigan team that won Big Ten title.

1984-85 when #5 ranked DePaul came into the fieldhouse and the Broncos took them down65-64. The gym was rocking that night!

Anybody remember a game at the old field house against CMU. We were down 5 with 5 seconds left. I believe Mark Brown hit a three, and we stole the inbounds pass and scored to tie it. We ended up winning in OT. Our team sucked that year, but the win was memorable.

That was a great win, but the VaTech win was more memorable because it put us in the round of sixteen and on the national map. That whole year did if you remember.

When Manny Newsome and Howard Komives squared off in 1963. I don't even remember the score but I'll never forget BG with Komives and us with Manny.

^ WMU lost to BG at home in 1963 75-82.
In 1964 WMU took the win at home 95-85 with Komives setting a Read Fieldhouse record of 49 points

THE game I will never forget was Jan 28th 1976. WMU (15-0) won over Miami 85-68 with possibly the largest crowd EVER in attendance. Spectators were sitting in all the aisles and on the upstair decks with feet hanging over.
Rumors were the Kalamazoo Fire Marshall went ballistic.

MU was a great game too. SI had a write up featuring a pic of Griff. Great atmosphere, never really duplicated.

Got to that Miami game late (was coaching a HS basketball team, had practice) and couldn't come close to finding a seat or even seeing the court.

Just stood in about sixth-eighth row of SRO between bleachers on Press Box side, watched scoreboard and listened to roars.

Can find that article in "SI Vault."

RE: Best win ever?
In last game of 1967-68 season we were hosting Al McGuire's #8 ranked Marquette team Saturday afternoon on regional TV.

We had lost seven of last eight, wound up 11-13 and fourth in MAC.

But that day we could do no wrong and beat Marquette 73-66. If I remember correctly, Ellis Hull had the game of his life - he couldn't miss.

I have vivid memory of McGuire getting up off bench in frustration, arms out stretched, looking around as if to say "What is going on? This isn't supposed to be happening!"

Ironically enough next week Marquette beat MAC champion Bowling Green in NCAA First Round.
