NFL Draft:

Marcus Trufant was the top Cougar player taken which wasn't a suprise. He was the #11 pick and was taken by the Seattle Seahawks. I am glad that he's staying in Washington so that I can see him play in Seattle. Rien Long was drafted by Tennesse Titans in the 4th round.

The Titans also signed Jason Gesser, Derrick Roche, and Jerome Riley. The San Francison 49ers signed Mike Bush. Congrats to all the Cougars on NFL rosters. Make us proud in Pullman.

SPRING FOOTBALL GAME 2003:

Matt Kegel had a great game and showed that he can lead Cougar football as the starting quarterback in 2003. He had 273 passing yards and 3 TD's. I know he will do fine and step up to fill the shoes of Jason Gesser. Devard Darling was the main receiving target for Kegel and so these two seem to be on the same page which is exciting. Darling had 7 catches and 101 receiving yards.

The defense was outstanding as well. Jason David created a fumble on the first play from scrimmage and Al Genatone returned the fumble for a touchdown. Virgil Williams, who was granted another year to play by the NCAA did well at safety and Will Derting had a great game at linebacker( he had 3 picks in WSU"s first game last year).

Jermaine Green and Jonathan Smith were great on the ground which wasn't suprising. Special teams did well too. Overall it was a great day and I am exciting for an exciting season. Go Cougs!!
