McIntosh update from their semifinal playoff game

Quote:McIntosh, a senior quarterback who was 11-for-16 passing for 229 yards and four scores with one interception, didn't want to leave the Bowl.

"It's unbelievable (to win another regional title)," he said. "This team is so close. It's unbelievable that I will never play here again."

He also had 95 yards rushing and they advanced to the semi-state championship

Quote:McIntosh, a Mr. Football candidate whose brother Paul won the award after Reitz’s first state championship in 2007, finished a relatively tame 17 of 32 for 269 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions

McIntosh's team lost 56-28 in the Indiana state semis

McIntosh named Indiana's Gatorade Player of the Year:

http://www.courierpress.com/news/2010/de...-player-y/

Quote:He completed 131 of 208 passes, a 63.0 percentage, for 2,202 yards and 29 touchdowns with seven interceptions in leading the Panthers to a 13-1 record and a berth in the Class 4A semistate. McIntosh, who has made an oral commitment to Northern Illinois University, rushed for 1,183 yards on 149 carries, a 7.9 average, and 14 scores.

http://www.wfie.com/story/13605037/reitz...f-the-year

Quote:"Matt McIntosh is one of the best high school football players I have ever seen," said Doug Hurt, head coach of rival Castle High. "His team is a good team without him, but nearly unbeatable with him in the game. He is a better runner than 95 percent of the running backs in our state and he can throw with anyone. He is truly a special player that comes around once or twice in a coaching career."

STUD

Don't think he'll win Mr. Football - there's some other QB out there with better stats and a better team.

Have we heard anything about any of the verbals since the coaching change? I remember John Rabe said he was reopening his recruiting, but I don't recall seeing anything else.

We won't lose any recruits. This was a great hire. regarding Rabe, Wisc is know for their TEs. He will probably be looking for more TEs. Rabe should be thrilled with the hire.

RE: 2011 Verbal Thread
Yea, I am certain that Gopher country is going to be celebrating in the streets now that they have stolen away a prized MAC recruit.

It seems KILL had a great skill in recruiting the type of kids he did at SIU, hence is classes were not well thought of once he landed here. Perhaps now he will have the best class in the MAC, while he is in the Big 10.

I'm not just saying this: NIU has the more prized coach than does MINN.

Thanks for the info. That's too bad for us but I can't blame Bush. I think he was probably our best verbal.

He might have thought he was a great get. Remember, he verballed early. That means that he was one of our first targets. We got in on him early. Later in the year, we turn to our third, fourth and .... options.(not saying they won't be better than our first option). Kill considers Bush a very good prospect, even for a Big 10 school.

Hopefully, we will be in the know on those Wisconsin kids that were right below what Wisconsin was after.

RE: 2011 Verbal Thread
Thought we said the new coach would be able to keep everybody. We just lost two of our prized recruits on the same day. Hopefully he has been on the ball and in contact with the kids that had committed as well as existing kids on the team that redshirted this year, I believe there were like 29. Two of our top recruits leaving is not a good sign. Would like to see him stem the tide and pick up a highly regarded kid before the Dec. 20 cutoff date.

The only thing I did not like about his press conference was his statement that Wisconsin stopped recruiting some kids and they are now being recruited by other MAC schools and he's hoping to get some of those. Look I do not want a U of W cast off recruit, I want kids who want to play at NIU and are highly regarded. As he said himself this is not a rebuilding job, this is a job to build upon the base that was already built into a winner and to take it to the next level. Taking to the next level does not include getting someone elses rejects, but finding your own diamonds in the rough who are a good fit for our program.

One more thing, I hope he does have good relationships with some of the Illinois High School coaches where we could get some decent area players to come here. However I'm also all for continuing to ilfiltrate Florida to get the speed that does not reside in our area.

Did anyone know we had a verbal from Rasheen Lemon? Edgy Tim is saying we did and his tease asks if he is still committed to NIU. Lemon made his visit the weekend of the banquet. Has good size for a safety and was talked about in an article earlier this year.

I didn't know he was committed to NIU. But in the article he says he remains loyal. To me it sounds like if the scholarship offer is still on the table he will be a Huskie. He has not spoken to the new coach yet.

Do we need to unpin this thread and start a new one? Don't know if any will remain with the new regime. Also, with Canada being the OC, Maybe he has had contact with the QB from Indiana that committed.

Coach Doeren said everyone that had an offer would still have an offer. If I were the recruit, though, I would hurry up and verbal if I had not done so.
