RE: Just announced Boise officially to MWC-
When the BE was down to 5 for football they got a chance to rebuild. I don't know if Beebe is that smart. Even if the west BE/MWC say no CUSA members would agree to join that Big 5

RE: Just announced Boise officially to MWC-
The BCS contract for 2010-2013 is signed. It says AQ are: Big XII, ACC, Big East, SEC, Pac-10, Big 10. Makes no reference to who is in those leagues. Evaluation to add new teams is for 2012 and 2013. So 2011 is OK.

Yeah they could make technical arguments and probably boot the Big XII but why bother for only three years (2011, 2012, 2013)? The reason the Big XII is going to be in this shape is because of the Pac-10 and Big 10 (and maybe SEC). Pretty bad PR move to kick them out when they caused the problem.

As Fresno noted, Big East was provided a chance to rebuild. If the five Big XII were to add TCU, BYU and Utah (if P-10 deal doesn't blow up at last minute). They walk in and say look, we've just added three teams with a combined three BCS appearances and a 2-1 BCS record. We've got one current team that has appeared in the BCS. Compare that to the Big East's rebuild. They had one team that had appeared in the BCS and did not add any teams that had ever played in a BCS game.

The NCAA won't be so kind, continuity of membership is still on the books. To get auto bids in the various sports, they need six that have been together five years. That means either six MWC schools, six Big East, or six CUSA. I would expect they would invite all Big East football members to join and be done and might add TCU if they need one more for even numbers.

you're talking bball right. autobid won't matter they'd get a bunch of at large. plus 6/5 is gone with nothing new in place. MWC and WAC only lost the AQ for 1 year(2000). I figure a mishmash would get about the same treatment.

Auto bid matters to the non-elite who hope to win the conference tournament and go. When you go to baseball, they aren't good enough to get an at-large bid and only Baylor is good enough in women's hoops.

Unless CUSA gets really butchered, they will be looking at WAC and Sunbelt. not the other way around. bottom line is they still have TV deal in place plus bowls the other 2 only dream about.

Denver could could stay in a West division.

Round and round she goes......

I would not be upset with a SBC and WAC merger as long as all of the schools are included...

I believe Ark.stfan is right on this one, the Big XII has a BCS invite, the MWC does not. The Big XII will raid the MWC, they don't want to go east. Missouri is not headed to the Big X, they will go with Rutgers to get to 12.

Adding Nebraska has already put them at 12!

I stand corrected, I missed one school.

RE: Just announced Boise officially to MWC-
I hesitate to bring this up because I really don't want to start a flame-fest (although being the interwebs that's probably unavoidable), but I was looking at the La Tech message board... and their biggest fear seemed to be that somehow they'd get sent to the Sun Belt. And yet several of them thought they might end up in a reconstituted Big 12.

Nothing against La Tech at all, but I have no clue why they think they are somehow out of the Sun Belt's league. I guarantee the average college sports fan shares the same opinion. Why wouldn't they want in a more regional league with similarly situation schools that actually make sense from a rivalry standpoint and that seems to be getting better each year.... do they like burning money?

I don't get it, maybe i'm missing something.

There is a lot of bad blood between Tech and Wright Waters.

Tech and ULM are 30 minutes apart and are not known for playing nice with each other. The have competed for years over corporate sponsorships, students, athletes, etc.

Most Tech fans, myself included, do not have anything against most Sun Belt schools. Most just do not want anything to do with Waters.

La Tech would need to APPLY for membership in the SBC so their fans can rest easy . . . unless they apply to the SBC they are safe . . . 03-lmfao

I assure you, there are some SBC members that aren't fans of Waters as well, but we are stuck with him.

Almost tempted to trade you Benson for Waters. Looks like both of them are just collecting paychecks.

The only thing that I've ever been able to figure out is that La Tech fans are from remote areas and are a little clueless. They have no idea of their place in the college sports world. They beat Bama a couple of times and lost their minds.

Name a school that does not have some "clueless" fans and I will show you a school that has no fans.

Never considered the Dallas/Fort Worth area as remote, but I guess compared to cities like Toyko, New York, and Mexico City it is.

So, all La Tech fans, or even the majority, live in Dallas/Ft Worth? Doesn't matter, was just a theory. You don't have SOME delusional fans, you have a LOT of delusional fans.

Can Karl Benson count to one as a means of breaking a tie?

If he can, he's a step up from Wright Waters.

If they get a 1 year no AQ, that isn't too bad. Since there is no rule in place, maybe they let it slide altogether.

TV contracts aren't worth the paper they are printed on if you lose teams. After last raid, ESPN slashed the rights fee and the number of games. Same goes for bowl contracts. Liberty has already negotiated a deal that CUSA signed that opens the door for CUSA to be moved out under certain conditions. A big enough raid and you lose the auto bids and NCAA units.
