RE: NEW POTENTIAL ALL-SPORTS BIG EAST CANDIDATE COMMON SENSE
If you are going to list Army and Navy, they need to be much higher up the list. They would be gladly accepted if they were interested.

Do I really see Fresno State and BYU on here?

This is quite the hodgepodge list. Some strange 1AA schools on here.

I suppose if SUBJECTIVE listings are what is going to become the norm here (in the wake of the Buckaineer subjective manifesto), then this one is just fine......while I disagree with some of the teams as possibilities, listing them here is no better or no worse than what we have seen in other "subjective" listings here very recently....

I think he gets that, and is giving your list the same consideration and thought that the subjective manifesto in the other thread got....04-cheers

Sorry man, you had just enough names on there to make it seem serious. My sarcasm meter doesn't work this early on (virtual) Monday mornings. .

But wait, Buckaineer's info was very objective, inclduing the AP rankings, BCS rankings, RPI, academic rate, and rivalries. He said so himself. 04-chairshot

Nope. Trapped me in.

I will tell you what. I had dreams last night of people arguing which team would be in the big east. It was like a dramatic version of the message board, only I could only hear the arguments, and could not see faces. I just kept hearing ECU, Temple, and UCF fans presenting their case, as though I had some control over it. Strangely, the lone voice that said USM was kicked out by the others. LOL.

The only thing I saw missing that he has insisted would be a factor in expansion is the way in which the current BE school presidents "get along" with the school presidents of expansion possibilities......would LOVE to see how that sends the data off into orbit.....you know, I hear Temple's president can make a damn good mojito, but the guy from TCU has an in with Lone Star beer - so, that's going to be a toughie right there....

You know, for the longest time I did actually think that he/she just had a bone to pick with certain schools....but now, I am becoming more and more convinced that he/she REALLY BELIEVES the stuff he/she types is fact - and is what WILL be considered in expansion......and that is spooky stuff.....

Oh, well.....if nothing else, it makes for entertaining reading on a morning like this back at the office....04-cheers

Methinks that if that list is used that Navy has twice as good a chance at an invite than anyone else!

RE: NEW POTENTIAL ALL-SPORTS BIG EAST CANDIDATE COMMON SENSE
My choice in order would be Notre Dame, ECU, Marshall, Memphis, UCF, Navy, Temple, Army, Buffalo, UAB, Miami OH, UMass and no one else. They need to keep it geographic in order to build up stonger fan bases. The Big East has more power than most people think. The BE owns the northeast market and they need to keep it that way with everything they have. If the Big East were smart they would give Notre Dame a free ride as long as they played ALL in...Or they could go to the Big 10 and share that Notre Dame money...So the BE needs to be smart and say hey you can go to that place an give up your pie or you can stay here and keep it. Simple.

That would not be the "smart" move. For one, Notre Dame's position is currently helping keep the conference intact, even if that is not their concern. Two, Notre Dame still has more value even as a non-football member, than a minimum of six of our basketball only members, and maybe all eight. While there is immense benefit in having Notre Dame as full tiem member, there is no real benefit to kicking them out, save for revenge, and if by getting revenge you"force" ND to doubl eits revenue, then go for it. Besides, forcing ND to the Big Ten only increases the likihood that they take one or two teams additional teams, as they would then try and make a play for NYC.

lol.......that could be a sign that you need to take a 1 week hiatus from this board.
btw... ECU gets to move up another notch with Memphis being a lock for the Big 12......05-stirthepot 02-13-banana 04-rock

one more nugget to add:
ECU Alumni Association having "freshman sendoffs"......two of which are in New Jersey! (Princeton and Cherry Hill)

Just showing the continued Jersey to ECU pipeline we have going. Fits in with the geographic shifting of the US talk. And "school with most northeast feel" talk. Stuff like that. No biggie.

Not really. We've been sending tons and tons of kids to Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin for quite some time now. I dont think the BE is going to target midwest schools because of it. There is nothing 'northeast feel about Greenville'. So a couple Philly area kids are going to ECU, okay. ECU's numbers two years ago say 89% were in-state students. I doubt that's changed much.

God help Greenville if it ever truely has a 'northeast' feel. I'll be the first one headded out of the city limits. There are plenty of NJ plates around town, and you would be suprised the number of cars with pirate stickers on them on the turnpike.

Yet....the Big East has Depaul and Marquette. You know nothing about Greenville. Have you ever stepped foot in Greenville? If so, when? Why were you here? Have you ever stepped foot on ECU's campus? It's more then a couple. Bottom line....folks all over Jersey know all about ECU.
