ATLANTA REGIONAL JUNE 4-7:

1 Georgia Tech (45-13, ACC 2nd place)
4 Mercer (37-22, ASUN 2nd place)

2 Alabama (37-22, SEC 7th place)
3 Elon (38-22, SoCON 3rd place)

NOTES:
* Elon finished season with RPI of 49 -- one spot behind FGCU (48) who did not receive an at-large bid. (warrennolan.com)
* Georgia Tech beat Mercer twice during the season but they were midweek games.
* Elon lost to The Citadel 5 times this year, and Mercer went 1-0 against them (midweek game though).

RE: Regionals field announced Monday 12:30PM/eastern on ESPN
1 GEORGIA TECH vs. 4 MERCER -- Friday June 4/ 7PM EASTERN

Looking forward to seeing the probable pitchers.

I'm going to guess it's McGuire for Tech and McCall for Mercer.

RE: Mercer @ 2010 NCAA Baseball Regionals (ATLANTA)
Ok so I was way off for who would be the starters...

PROBABLE STARTERS--

MERCER -- (LHP) Brandon Love (8-3, 6.19 ERA, 62 K's)

GA TECH -- (RHP) Mark Pope (7-1, 4.26 ERA, 63 K's)

I really like the choice for Mercer. He is the one that could go the deepest into a game for the Bears (which we will need if things are going well).
GA Tech is not going with their clear cut ace, instead going with a sophomore who did not do well against the Bears earlier in the season (6 runs on 10 hits allowed over 5 innings).
Pope did put up a good strikeout to walk ratio of 7:0 that day.
Love did get lit up by Tech that night coming out of the bullpen, but he was a different pitcher back then and it was only on 1 hit and 2 walks.
**Also Billy Burns did not play in the season games against Tech. That makes a big difference not having your leadoff man.
