RE: What to do with Nippert Stadium?
The only problem I have with 38 is we still will be looked down upon as having an inferior stadium and inferior crowds. I guess so long as a game or two is at PBS each year. Flea is right though....need to make the most money at this point. Truthfully, I'd like to see UC keep playing one at a place like FedEx field that can generate 2.5-3 mil every year, if possible.
Big test for Williams here early on. Im not thrilled with ucs sense of urgency (lacking) on this. Not going to get any cheaper to do down the road. Feel like uc is trying to be a little bit pregnant. Time to go all in if you want to play at the final table. Interest rates bound to rise at some point. And also disappointed that cincy corporate community is seemingly nowhere to be found near uc sports.

The only problem I have with the idea of playing at FedEx or some other off site venue for cash is that VT game is a UC home game.
And unless you have the money to travel, you lose one game to attend.

It was shortly after the 2008 season ended, because of pressure from BK, that the administration committed itself to undertaking the expansion of Nippert stadium. The first critical stage was the hiring of HNTB (one of the leading stadium architect firms in the country) to do a full architectural study, and during all of the months that have passed since then there has been no real public discussion of their findings, until this article. This is the first time their recommendation re seating capacity and configuration has been made public, along with comments by the university architect.
Any article by Katz over a year ago or previous thread discussing these newly revealed findings from this study simply doesn't exist.

It also doesn't look too hot from a perception standpoint for us to be selling our home games to be played in the opponents' backyard. I know it's necessary from a $$$ standpoint, but how awesome would it be to have VT coming in to Nippert? Don't you think that would swing the odds in our favor a little more? Instead we're playing in DC where VT will likely have 70k fans in attendance. I'll still looking forward to the trip and think it will be a blast but it would be a great atmosphere for a game in cozy confines of Nippert.

Racine and Zen, I dont disagree. But we make what, $3mil at fedex. How much do we make each game at nippert or even pbs? Other plus to that is having us play in an area that we are recruiting, such as DC.

I agree. We're making probably three times the amount off this game as we do for a home game at Nippert. When presented a deal like that you have to take it especially for us needing that money for facilities, etc. It just doesn't make us look very good to our 'peers.' It also decreases our chances of actually winning the game.
