RE: The movie thread
Game of Death II / dvd
--WOW....can't believe Golden Harvest allowed this to get out into the open. Basically it has previously recorded footage of Bruce Lee, Bruce Lee doubles, and some superimposed Bruce Lee scenes in it to basically say that Bobby Lo, the brother of Billy Lo (Bruce Lee's character in GoD), will have to learn Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lee's kung fu style) via "Bruce Lee's" manual that Billy Lo wrights to take down a drug lord in a upside down tower of death that basically was a friend to Billy and Bobby. Some of the action scenes and sets are pretty decent BUT... the horrid editing and cheap vibe the movie gives off kind of kills any redeeming value.

Indiana Jones movies / dvd
--Raiders of the Lost Ark ...pretty cool

--Temple of Doom ... probably my favorite.

--The Last Crusade ...Not bad but I didn't overly get into it either.

--The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ... I liked it. Maybe a little more super natural than the others but otherwise pretty solid.

Mission Impossible:

--First one has the best story of the four but the action scenes at the end in the tunnel took it to a crazy level.

--II : I thought the action was way better than the first although the story felt less "mission impossible" and more standard action fare.

--Ghost Protocol: Pretty solid overall movie. Liked Renner's character and the black girl's tie in to the Russian female assassin. The hallway movie screen thing was kind of unbelievable too.

It honestly seemed a bit disjointed in the early going, but it got really good once all of the principles got introduced. Also, and this is just an aside, Cobie Smulders was hot as Maria Hill.

RE: The movie thread
American Psycho / dvd
--loved the way he laments his life but wants to kill everyone. Just a interesting character all the way around that Patrick Bateman.

American Psycho 2 / NF Stream
--saw this up on NF streaming and since I liked the original and saw it had a female protagonist I thought I'd check it out. While Mila Kunis is a mean little SOB... and does the dirt... the movie felt like a dark comedy spin off from the original rather than a true sequel. fairly interesting story elements though.

Psycho ('98) / NF Stream
--I liked it a lot actually. Vince Vaughn playing Norman Bates was great casting--it almost made Norman weirder/more sinister/ more unstable. Lots of big time actors in it too. I haven't seen the original in forever though.

Alien vs. Predator / dvd DC
--I liked the movie. I think the story lines were well thought out. My only beef continues to be the lack of R rated violence in a R rated franchise parents.

Alien vs. Predator Requiem (aka AVP 2) / dvd DC
--Better violence than the first but not as good of a story line IMO.

Killer Elite / NF Stream
--Statham, DeNiro, and Owen make a great cast in a down and dirty ex-SAS + CIA entanglement with the British government's involvement in Oman. Pretty bad ass action. I hope they team up for another movie of some kind.

The first one is spectacular. The second one? Not so much. Although, it DOES have Rosario Dawson going for it, which is nice.

RE: The movie thread
Sweet thread, I've been missing out by not checking out The Sports Bar before now. I love movies so I am going through this thread picking out ones to watch. Here are the movies I have seen lately. I'm not all artsy fartsy with my words so I'll just say if I recommend them or not.

"The Wave" ("Die Welle", German with subtitles, 2008) - Could go either way. Seemed pretty tame for what it was supposed to be about.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438315/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbTkdqYivuw - Trailer

"Peaceful Warrior" (2006) - Fanfreakingtastic. Definitely recommend it
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438315/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gegNMYvY_yg - Trailer

"The Way Back" (2010) - Highly recommend
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1023114/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87kezJTpyMI - Trailer

"Everything Must Go" (2010) - Didn't like it. Expected a comedy (Will Ferrell) and got some mix between a drama and comedy.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1531663/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2kXUY7SmkE - Trailer

"Waterborne" (2005) - I liked it a lot. I really like disaster/dystopian/apocalyptic movies (this one is disaster). It looks pretty low budget at times so if that's an issue for you I wouldn't recommend it. For example the national guard in wear the old jungle camo and I'm pretty sure carry M16s. Wouldn't watch it for visuals, story is pretty good. But again this is my genre and I like just about every movie in it.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0423514/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7tbAHCnoow - Trailer

"Phase 7" (2011) ("Fase 7", Spanish with English subtitles) - Highly recommend. Another apocalyptic type movie but the whole thing takes place inside an apartment building. A bit on the slow side but it sets up the action well.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568816/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5SKvst_Lyc - Trailer (warning this trailer is a terrible representation of the movie. Makes it look like non stop action and guns blazing which it is not.)

Loved it!

Ok, not flawless:

1. SHIELD doesn't shoot down Hawkeye's plane?

2. Ironman hits Thor instead of just grabbing Loki, and zooming him back to the jet.

3. No way Stark goes through the shatterproof glass. Stark's body breaks before that glass does.

But still, when it was over I told my wife, "That's how you write a script!"

3. You know it was an awesome movie if this is one of the top 3 problems

Tell me Hawkeye wasn't totally awesome. And the villain reveal in the middle of the credits?! I never thought I'd see him in a movie
