It's often referred to as Spielberg's only real stinker. But I LOVED (actually, still love) that movie. All star comedy cast, awesome homage to old WWII movies, incredible sound track. Perhaps part of my affection for it was that I was in high school at the time and I enjoyed the sophomoric humor, and I suppose that a certain amount of nostalgia is still contributing to my fan-dom. But I can watch that movie over and over. Anybody with me?
I still like 1941. I think it's a hilarious movie...

wait, what? Isn't Matt Damon a big headliner?
Matt Damon wasn't in the cast of "The Losers"...

sorry, i thought we were talking about the adjustment bureau. Didnt realize Owl quoted my comment on the losers. i assumed he was quoting my opinion of the adjustment bureau

RE: The movie thread
saw 'get low' last night. i was pretty disappointed. while the film itself wasn't that bad, i had some pretty high hopes. robert duvall as a codgy old hermit whom wants bill murray (as a funeral home proprietor) to direct his funeral with the catch that it be done while he (duvall) is still alive. i was led to believe it was a comedy, it was far from it. bill murray needed more screen time, as he is the finest living actor. this could have been sooo much better.

I saw it on a plane a few months ago. Not bad for being a captive audience. But, I wasn't blwon away either.

I hadn't even heard of it before that trip, so my expectations were low. It was somewhat thought provoking (lotta talk about forgiveness). But, the big mystery wasn't particularly interesting, and it didn't live up to the build up.

Murray was very good ("Or can't"). The rest of the cast varied.

Sherlock Holmes / dvd
--great movie IMO

Hellboy / NF Stream
--Not bad but IMO the animes were a little better.

Major League I and II / dvd
--Not as comedic as I remembered but pretty solid. I wanted to watch some Charlie Sheen that wasn't insane.

Been streaming A Team Season 1

The Adjustment Bureau / Theatre
--not bad but it felt like a Inception/Men In Black mix which surprised me. More of a romance movie than I was expecting.

Plan to finish up the Internal Affairs trilogy this week as I got in the 2nd movie.

--Yeah....I still hate this movie.

The Toxic Avenger / NF Stream
--damn its so cheesey...yet you can't stop watching it...

The A-Team / BR
--I liked it and the more I go back watching the first season of the original show the more I think they nailed the cast.

Death Race 2000 / NF Stream
--Interesting 70s movie with Stallone AND Carradine.

Under Siege / dvd
--Great Segal action movie IMO. Too bad the second one was such garbage.

Heck, it WAS the original movie except it was Kung Fu and not Karate. I knew what they were gonna say before they even said it. Still a good movie but they could have at least changed the dialog up.

I liked the movie. The "bad" kid was pretty bad ass. I don't think went into enough of Jackie Chan's history with his wife in regards to that car though. I think the training scenes had more meaning knowing Jackie Chan's martial arts history.

Watched Adventures of Robin Hood w/ Errol Flynn.

Campy at times, but some good scenes. My son liked it. We just read some Robin Hood stories, so it was good timing, although our version of the stories varied somewhat.

Saw it as well. Not bad.... but I was expecting something different than what I got.

Last movie I saw. I thought it was a very solid movie which didn't feel forced, but did feel a little shallow leaving some stuff too intentionally vague. I missed some parts of the movie, but got to see the majority of the important parts, but the finale felt rushed. Blunt's character seems to understand the situation too quickly rather than just following and remaining confused. I'm steadily becoming a fan of Blunt especially after I saw The Young Victoria.

**spoiler**

the story had so many plot holes. like the humans wanted the aliens to leave and the aliens wanted to leave. why didn't the aliens just tell the humans that, "hey we need this bottle of fuel to power our ship and then we'll peacefully leave." i enjoyed it though

I didn't like it either. It's like most science fiction out of Hollywood, sadly lacking...

Well, there is that. I thought there were elements of a good sci-fi story and movie, but also lacked several pieces.

Or that said fuel would turn humans into aliens. That's some powerful stuff. Can fuel starships and mutate one species into another. Kind of like the molecular acid blood in the original Aliens. Yeah that could happen......

Farfetched? Sure. But it's sci fi. Besides, all of their equip and weapons had some sort of DNA interface, so I accepted it.

What was problematic to me was that the government was so prepared to find such material and someone exposed to it.

i liked the social commentary aspect. quite an interesting angle. there's a zombie movie using the same concept but it involves getting out of mexico into the states
