RE: The movie thread
on dvd...

Titan AE.
--An "American anime" of sorts about a kind finding out his father did know what he was talking about and is called to save the human race. Has some decent animation/cgi mix as well as some strong voice talent. Worth a rental if you have never seen it and like some sci-fi.

The Watchmen
--Never heard of the comic book till the movie released. But I like the movie and the whole plot. Rorschach is my favorite character. Dr Manhattan needs to make pornos not nuclear weapns 03-razz ...seriously though...you don't want to but you have to watch him 01-lauramac2

@ the theaters

Toy Story 3
--A solid 3rd movie in the series. Lotso Huggin Bear (aka Lotso for short) is a pretty sinister dude... They really upped the ante with the action scenes and the metrosexual Ken was epic.

Granted M. Night's movies suck balls, but that's a stupid reason not to see a film. A better reason would be, M. Night directed this, or had a part in this, therefore I choose not to partake. That's just my opinion on M. Night. Never saw Unbreakable though.

My bootlegger got me a copy of A Team. It was fun, brought back some nostalgia. From what I remember of the original cast I thought they did a pretty good job. I do like Bradley Cooper. It's a popcorn flick and leave your mind at the door. It did it's job I feel. The CGI at the end was a bit much.

I read the graphic novel before I saw the film. I liked it (the novel), read thru it quick, but didn't love it. Maybe it is brilliant, but I hated the ending. I don't know what they could have done. I dunno, it just ended, ya know? But the film was actually very truthful to the novel. I don't think they cut out anything. From the novel's standpoint, I was more interested in the sidestory of that dude lost at sea. Oh and Rorschach killed it. That's exactly how I thought his voice would sound.

Aside from the nuclear weapons angle on the story... the whole secret society of super villains and heroes getting done in by serial killer was interesting to me.

I don't want to give anything away, but you'd consider him a serial killer?

Considering he was working a profile/list... it could be argued. And his reasons fit the motives of such.... but I digress. I have to admit I was like.... 04-jawdrop at the end. I would say one last thing but I think that would be too much of a spoiler for anyone who hasn't read the book or seen the movie.

Van Helsing
--Hugh Jackman pulls of Van Helsing pretty well and I liked how they put together/interconnected the stories of a lot of popular horror icons. It only suffers from some too real/not real enough CGI but otherwise a solid movie. Anyone think that he looked a lot like Vampire Hunter D? *

*While I have seen VHD, I MUCH PREFERRED the sequel.

Runaways. I love Kristen Stewart. She played a solid Joan Jett. The film seemed kinda condensed, I mean we're talking a short period of time. The beginning was awesome, after that it became tedious. It could have been expanded better. I know it's sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll, but the formative part of the band was the most interesting.

First off, she's gorgeous and a good actress in the few films I've seen her in. She's gonna be in the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's On the Road, which I'm looking forward to.

RE: The movie thread
Superman I and II out of that ULTIMATE DVD COLLECTION. Watched directors cuts of both movies.
--The Lex Luthor, Superman, and Lois Lane acting is all around great. I liked Coleman's slimey attitude but I don't think he was as EVIL as the Super Freinds/(new) Justice League variants. I was thinking that in II, that Zod and his cohorts sure did try to look "Russian." Terence Stamp was epic as a maniacal ruler.

Jonah Hex / Theaters
--Not a bad movie but I don't think they did a god job of reasoning out his resurrection AND how/what that super weapon ball was made of. Aside from that the action was top notch. This movie could have been better if they had tightened it up a little more and pitched it as a Western rather than a super hero movie. I am glad to say they didn't overdo Megan Fox as a sexpot.

Universal Soldier / BR **got in a 2pk w/ Total Recall BR for $15 :o **
--Decent action fare of the period and the BR transfer looks ok...I think some older movies unless they do a good restore don't work as well on a BR disc.

The Matrix/dvd
--Such a great movie to start a trilogy...too bad 2 and 3 never lived up to the first one. Granted I liked 2 ok...but 3..with how they reasoned out the end really bugged me

Miracle at St. Ana/ NF Stream
--WW2 tale of Buffalo Soldiers in Italy. There is more to it than that but it is a solid Spike Lee joint.

Watched original Inglorious Bastards and while the overall plot was good it was not as entertaining as Tarantino's take.

Thunderbolt (Jackie Chan)/ NF Stream
--A kind of what if you mixed the fist F&F movie with Jackie Chan kung fu. The fight scenes are pretty good and the racing on the street and the track scenes are solid. The BASIC PLOT is Jackie's garage assists the police in cracking down on street racers. One fateful night a newcomer blows past the police and Jackie hops in a car to stop him. Once caught the bad guy is ticked he got caught and challenges Jackie to a race.... but first his friends have to get him out of jail. Decent rental

maybe i'm weird, but i thought 2 and 3 were much cooler than the first. the first one kinda weak to me. But i think all the flying and cool powers neo got in the latter two, were more fun to watch
