Ending was a total bust. After all the twists throughout the movie, I expected one final twist but got....nothing. No imagination. Nothing. Period. End of movie.

Yes the ending suck, but I still enjoyed it immensely.

The action was great and the story was ok, I felt like it missed something and then there's the awkward scene when they're all at dinner with the two women. I don't know, I kinda felt let down. Too much blood and gore and use of the f-word, and not enough meat for me I guess.

Pitch Black- DVD- I recorded Riddick the other night and wanted to refresh myself with the original 2 movies. So I watched Pitch Black. I forgot how awesome a character like Riddick truly is. "I'm Richard B. Riddick. Escaped felon and murder."

I thought all three Pitch Black movies (Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick, & Riddick) were good although the series is very underrated just like the Underworld series.

I rented Pitch Black from Blockbuster a long time ago, and have watched it multiple times.
Dam good sci fi thriller. Same for Chronicles.

On the TV side, just finished Spartacus Blood and Sand, all 4 seasons. Dam good.

I watched 3 movies last weekend:

Alexander and the Not so Good... You get the point-- DVD-- Not a bad movie. It was pretty much kid friendly, but had jokes that weren't bad and Steve Carrell did a good job. I just think that having Jennifer Garner as his wife is a stretch. She's too hot for him.

Birdman--DVD-- Wow. Just out there.. Not my taste of movie.

St. Vincent--DVD-- I don't care if you like Melissa McCarthy or not, this movie is a Bill Murray movie. One of the best ones I've seen him in.. Well the first one in a long time.. Good comedy.. Good story.. Naomi Watts as the stripper/prostitute was genius.. I recommend it. I'd tell you if you had the choice between this and Birdman, watch this.

Birdman sounds interesting and the whole Keaton played Batman angle to the whole thing kind of makes it more so.

I watched Predestination (Ethan Hawke) the other day and it was very entertaining movie with a plot that is really twisted and out there.

The Brother's McMullen/dvd
--Watched at a "Irish themed movie party." Not bad but ohh the ironic twists of fate of the three brothers.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail / dvd
--funny as ever.

Transformers: Age of Extinction / BR
--While I liked it they made it run about 30m too long. I'm still stuck on the G1 Cartoon show for the Dinobot origins so...

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1/BR
--Probably the darkest of the movies in the series so far. Still think they are trying to milk its success by splitting the 3rd book into 2 movies.

RE: The movie thread
I watched a few this weekend:

Gone in 60 Seconds- DVR- This is the Nic Cage version. I've always enjoyed the movie. I think Vinnie Jones and Chi McBride are the two in the movie I enjoy the most. Maybe the scene where Memphis taunts Master P while he's in the dinner.

Horrible Bosses 2- DVD- I loved the first one. I was worried they were going to use the same formula and pull a "Hangover". They didn't. To me it was a continuing story with a few more twists and adventures. I don't think it was as good as the first one, but there were a few scenes where it was pretty funny.

Foxcatcher- DVD- I had never heard of this movie nor the whole ordeal on which it was based until my FIL mentioned it this past summer. He and his brother both had dealing with John du Pont. My FIL was a CO at the prison du Pont got sent to and his brother used to work with Team USA wrestling and after that he had a ministry that used wrestlers from Team USA, du Pont helped fund the ministry when the brother went to him. That being said, the movie was good. Steve Carrel played an excellent role. It was far from what I'm used to seeing from him. I'm not sure if du Pont was that creepy in real life, but if he was, it got nailed. I think it was a solid cast with a good movie. Reading up on the whole thing, the movie had some of their time line messed up, but these are things that happen in Hollywood.

The Chronicles of Riddick- DVD- Continuing my Riddick marathon. I like how the movie doesn't spend most of the time focusing on the outside force Riddick is trying to fight, but more on Riddick himself. I had Riddick on my DVR, but apparently it started recording 20 minutes into the movie, so I didn't watch it.

RE: The movie thread
Nearly everyone has indicated it was a pretty accurate portrayal of John DuPont. If anything they say he might have been a little more eccentric in real life. The man was paranoid as hell. That being said, most never considered he was capable of murder. I think that is one of the reasons why Steve Carrell was the right guy for the role. I don't think anyone can believe the guy who played Micheal Scott could whack someone.

Useless Trivia: Olympic Gold Medalist and Professional Wrestler Kurt Angle wrestled for Team Firefox and was a Dave Schultz disciple.

Transformers Prime S1/NF
--Finished the complete S1 today. Great series. Lots of canon material in it. Characters are voiced and acted great. I'm not sure of going with the kids route versus adults but whatever. My only beef is they really cut down the Autobot and Decepticon casts from the G1 cartoon.

X2: XMen United/ BR
--Probably my favorite of the original trilogy of films.

Friday the 13th 4-7/ dvd
--I liked the 4-6 Tommy Jarvis trilogy in the series. It had some decent kills. The 6th one was probably the weakest. I have always liked #7 with the uniqueness of the girl telekinesis and the shady doctor.

Halloween 1-2 / dvd
--I thought movies were pretty solid and they way the connected them was kind of cool. You almost need Loomis's craziness to offset Meyers' stoicness.

Star Wars IV/ BR
--Still love it.

I did a little series wrap up this weekend:

Riddick- BR- I liked it. The whole premise they marooned him on a planet and left him for dead.. The fact that he trusted mercs to come rescue him.. And it left an opening for another movie.

Iron Man 1-3-DVD/BR- Yes watched all 3. The original is still my favorite, but there are things I like from all 3. I thought it fell off at the 2nd one and didn't think the 3rd was all that great, but when you watch them like that, it puts it all in perspective, I probably should've watched The Avengers inbetween 2 & 3..

Amazing Spiderman 1 & 2- BR/DVR- I had to watch the 1st one to refresh myself and then watched the 2nd one. Not a bad series, it could be built upon. To me the 2nd one was better.

Rise of the Guardians: All your childhood icons are "guardians", based upon The Guardians of Childhood series created by William Joyce.

Take all your childhood classic characters and put a nice spin on them....

St. Nick is a sword wielding Russian (I think), the Easter Bunny a boomerang throwing Australian, Jack Frost is the forgotten guardian, and the Boogeyman as the bad guy..

Especially with some big names in the voice over roles, Alec Baldwin, Jude Law, Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman (who's role as the Easter Bunny had me dying in laughter over and over!)...etc, etc.

Great story about the fear of being forgotten... I'd definitely recommend this one for the little ones, and for the family as a whole!

Ironman 3 was the weakest of the series so far BUT, it would have been so if they had done the source material for Extremis differently (or more to my point like the animated version I watched on Netflix had it play out...).

I liked the new Spideys because they weren't as overly dramatic/emo like the first three.... I think Sony could have made a tighter/more cohesive go at it though.

I got Chinatown AND its sequel, The Two Jakes, on dvd. Great two movies on the subject. Jack played a great detective--I wish both would get their due on BR as I would get them in a heartbeat.

I feel like the reason 3 wasn't up to par as the first one is that they knew this was it. Let's be honest, they can re-boot Iron Man but RDJ is Iron Man. He's going to be hard to replace as that character. I think 3 was their way of wrapping it up.

It's like who can be Superman after Christopher Reeves? Brandon Routh failed miserably.. Henry Cavill tried, and I think he'll be ok, but he's no Christopher Reeves..

Well, Superman I and II at least....cause III and IV were garbage. Personally I don't think Routh did a bad job BUT the movie itself wasn't a "Superman" movie...to action-less for me. Spacey did a good job as Lex. Man of Steel had a lot of potential and I liked it for what it was...but it had too many God-Like fights in it--IMO that was its only drawback...

I agree that they haven't found "THE SPIDERMAN" yet but the new guy was less annoying and sappy than Tobey's portrayal. The two new ones main issue was Sony tinkering with them too much and making the end product not as concise as it could have/should have been.
