I feel like it might be a way to transfer the McClain legacy to someone else since Bruce Willis is getting old.. I didn't feel like I wasted almost 2 hours. I enjoyed most of it.. It's just a drop off from the first 3.

That was #5 right? or #4? After the first "core" 3 movies I think 4 and 5 were ok as far as action movies....but both felt like lets milk a little more out of the series.
Yea.. It was:

Die Hard
Die Hard 2: Die Harder
Die Hard with a Vengeance
Live Free or Die Hard
A Good Day to Die Hard

I have to admit, I have a soft spot for LFoDH, but that's because I'm one of those guys who think Timothy Oliphant can do no wrong in acting (although the airplane and the interstate was obviously too much.).

But AGDtDH... That one STUNK to hell and back. You could smell the brimstone from the opening scenes

I liked the Russian angle and the action was legit but Bruce Willis's character or his acting of John McLane just seemed to giving off the vibe off "I need a paycheck so suck it." I could believe his kid could get involved in the spy game but...

The prior movie had a more inspired plot but it still felt like it was struggling to rehash old lines from prior movies.

RE: The movie thread
Two good foreign language films on Netflix.

Lore (2012) German - IMDB Link - about the days / weeks following the German surrender to the Allies for a German girl and her family. Follows the 1000km travel and tribulation from the black forest to relatives close to the Danish border. Some say its a story best not told but if you like history is an accurate yet different perspective than you might have heard before. Also, pretty good acting by the girl playing Lore.

Two Lives (2012) German / Norway - IMDB Link - Ever wondered what happened to East German agents in other countries after the fall of the wall? This movies supposedly tells the true story of one agent living in Norway who lived a double life. A real life spy thriller.

Micmacs (2009) French - Micmacs is a 2009 French comedy film by French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Its original French title is MicMacs à tire-larigot, ("Non-stop shenanigans" or, literally, "Intrigue – His heart's content"). The film is billed as a "satire on the world arms trade".

Swimming Pool/dvd
--Cool foreign film IMO. Great story and interesting twists to the tale depending upon how you view the ending and the tale shown as the tale told.

Captain America: The First Avenger (Netflix DVD)-- Besides the original Thor, Iron Man, and the Incredible Hulk with Ed Norton, this is by far my favorite Marvel movie. To take it to a period of WWII was quite awesome. Tommy Lee Jones playing his CO is a hoot and the supporting cast was just that, a great supporting cast.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Netflix DVD)-- The best sequel from all the Avengers. Loved the action, the introduction of the Falcon, and the Agents of Shield tie in (I watched the show and was expecting this, but after watching the movie it made better sense). The story of Capt. America is awesome. I don't have one complaint on the movie.

I'm assuming this is the 2003 French/English one about the writer and not the 2001 German slasher film. If so, I agree.

Transformers/BR
--I was so nervous when I heard a live action TF movie would be forthcoming. I think they actually pulled off the concept pretty good considering how difficult it could be doing it IN live action.

I'll agree. He did quite well in that role.

RE: The movie thread
Well, DC has their justice league lineup almost completed now for their big movie!

The schedule I saw had some of the super-heroes getting their movie AFTER the big combined showcase.

Batman vs. Superman - Dawn of Justice 2016
Suicide Squad - 2016 (This one I wouldn't have expected)
Wonder woman - 2017
Justice League - 2017
The Flash - 2018 (It'll be interesting to see if they find a way to tie in the CW's series)
Aquaman - 2018 (and the "Neptune' version of Aquaman... not blondie in orange :) )
Shazam - 2019 (Would love to see if they can squeeze in a Black Adam/Rock cameo in the Justice League film somehow)
Justice League 2 - 2019
Cyborg - 2020
Green Lantern - 2020

And you have to figure they'll squeeze in another Batman and/or Superman movie in those four years somewhere.

I saw Fury. I thought it was fantastic. It certainly what I was expecting. It is sort of the Saving Private Ryan of its day in terms of taking WW2 violence to a new level.

I finally got to watch Monument Men. It was a well done historical piece, and they followed the history fairly closely. I got to see a good bit of the recovered art while I was stationed in Europe. So I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

man i'm hearing some wildly different opinions of this. For one, my grandpa thought it was absolutely terrible. Then I met two people who saw it, with one saying it was pretty good and the other saying it was terrible. Maybe i'll wait for it to come to DVD

My MIL hated Monument Men.. I liked it..

She's a history prof and said why did they get old guys to play the parts and why was John Goodman in it.. I told her that was probably the best people to represent them.. She researched it and was shocked that they were old men going back into the army for this task.
