the newest batman. good but not as good as the last one. i still hate christian bale's batman voice. and the hint of liam neison (or whatever) reprising his role as that guy not as that guy but as that particular guy as ra's al ghul. like f*cking come on. him and jason statham can be in awesome movies and be sweet and **** and then come out with gawd damn the **** they do. at least i liked my jason statham in guy ricthie films. don't know much about liam save for batman and taken which was awful. but i get it
batman was uneven. bane's sweet and he's batman's bad guy and he's got a plan a self righteous one (are all batman villain's martyr's?) but then batman becomes sweet and the central figure and bane sucks and is basically unimportant. it was a wonder batman got beat in the first place. let down

I could have seen Man of Steel and Wolverine. Regardless, I was happy w/ lighthearted fare that didn't require too much mental energy and kept the mood upbeat.

Nolan's 3rd Batman was the weakest of his 3. Too drawn out... That said, their version of the tale of Bane was better than that trash of a plot in Batman and Robin. Not a fan of Bale's gruff voice as Batman but maybe that is his way of throwing people off of who he is.
The Wolverine / BR
--Missed seeing it in the theaters. I liked its more direct bad ass story than I did the elongated origin story of Wolverine. That said, each needed to happen.

it was her birthday on saturday so we watched the first one. linklater captures his characters. they're vulnerable, naive, frail and genuine. he not only captures the character, but he captures the periods of our lives. and you can relate to the awkwardness of being human. before sunrise was my favorite. i love the foolish ambitions of being twenty something.
we liked it so much we watched the second. and we liked the second so much yesterday we watched the third. i wouldn't say the third was predictable, but you could definitely sense the direction it was going. we both enjoyed it, however we both agreed that celine was being kind of an unreasonable b!tch. we didn't really like her.
the lady said that it's good a film like this could be made. the fact that it could be made as a history of a relationship even more so. bravo richard linklater, julie and ethan. bravo. i enjoyed growing with you and sharing your work with someone near and dear to me.

The first two in that series may be my favorite combo of movies of all time. The third....it disappointed me. I had such high expectations but the story just didn't seem as good.
The extended scene with the couples at the writer's retreat: It took too long. I didn't care for it. The strength of the first two movies were just the two characters, talking and walking. They got to that just very briefly while walking to the hotel and I had high hopes but I was disappointed that they fought in the hotel.
Why did Delpy need to be topless during the bulk of the argument? That part didn't ring true to me at all. Because I know when I'm fighting with my husband that ain't happening.
While I understand that flings/love/romance can fade over time and I appreciate what the "realness" of what the writers were doing. I just think it fell flat. I appreciate that they're trying to explore what happens to a relationship down the road and that it's not the fantasy of these 24 hour flings. It just seemed so very bitter to me.
The best part of the movie was this:

--I enjoyed the ensemble cast coming back together. I think the way they handled Vince's return was kind good and bad.
Furious 6 / BR
--I liked the movie as a straight action movie. I think they pulled the Letty comeback out the arse considering the setup they gave in 4. They really didn't delve into the street racing scene of London like they have so to speak in past movie locales.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo / BR
--Great thriller IMO. I think I am heading back to NetFlix to re-watch all three parts of the original Dutch trilogy.
The Desolation of Smaug / theater
--Another solid entry in the LotR series IMO. But, while I like a lot of the fill ins to the original story it still gives off the vibe of being drawn out just to make more money.
tinker tailor soldier spy. i admit that i wanted to turn this off after an hour or so because i didn't know what was going on but i couldn't. i was riveted for some reason. in the end i have a fairly good grasp of what transpired. f*ckin' all brit spy flicks can't be james bond i guess

I've heard good things about this and kind of want to see it.
Lush - I haven't seen either of those. I have seen the Jesse/Celine bit from Waking Life but I've never seen the whole film. I will have to check those out for sure.
we were at my buddies in atlanta and watched some survivalist films before heading out to the e.a.v for n.y.e. for some hijinx. i can't recall the names of the films but we were captivated. two dudes independently living in the remote maine north trappin' beaver and cutting logs. surviving to the max. the other was about a dude who went off into alaska and didn't die like that one kid. f*cking hard ass men.
what about bob. this movie doesn't really warrant a critique. i enjoyed it though
bottle rocket. no idea why i cast this aside and thought it wouldn't be any good. and i love wes anderson. riot
saving mr. banks. good good good. i was mislead thinking this was about the rights to mary poppins. what a cast! colin farrell personifies the imperfect man perfectly. sad story with sort of a triumphant end
47 Ronin / theater
--Not a bad movie but while the ads showed supernatural kung fu the movie was more a love story kind of deal. You could really tell the cinematography was set up for the 3d showings ( I saw it in 2D).
Gangster Squad / br
--Pretty good 40's era "gangland" LA movie IMO. Kind of reminds me of "Chinatown" in some ways.
Operation Condor / br
--got it as part of a set. The whole Jackie Chan as a modern day Indiana Jones was kind of interesting.
Hannibal / br
--say what you want, but I liked this movie. Anthony Hopkins just oozed the essence of a Hannibal Lecter character. I found the story more intriguing that Silence of the Lambs but I would say Silence deserved the praise it got.
Legend of Korra S1 / br
--watched it with my brother. I liked the original Avatar series and this was a interesting continuation of it. Too bad the story was only 13 episodes long. It basically tells the tale of the Avatar that replaced Ang from the original series and is set you could say about 50 years past the timeline of that original series. Kind of cool to see where some ended up and the future they moved to.
Man of Steel / br
-- Not a bad Superman movie but somehow it felt like it was all action of a perfect mix of action and story like Superman I and II. That said, it was superior to III and IV. It also avoided the blandness of Returns. I did kind of like the Zod/Jor-El/Kal-El dynamic more than than Superman II.
