Olympus Has Fallen- Netflix (purchased later)- It's an action movie with an easy plot. I like it. Butler plays a tough guy and the stunts are not too unbelievable. Maybe some of the knives to the brain, but nothing major.

London Has Fallen- Digital (purchased)- Part two. Follows the same formula as the first one, believable stunts, but the plot is different and it's not Olympus has fallen but in a different country.

Angel Has Fallen- Digital (purchased)- Part three. Same thing, but different plot, plus he acknowledges he's getting old and it's tough. No more Aaron Eckhart. Now you have Morgan Freeman as the president.. Nick Nolte joins the crew.. It's good.. It's got a little bit of a twist, but if you're paying attention you won't get lost, hell if you're half watching it, you won't get lost.

One thing about Angel vs Olympus is that unlike Stallone or any of the aging actors in action movies, Angel does show the hero being human and has faults.

Yeah, I tacked on some BR deals from BBY and got quite a bit of movies(basically, I would have bought all of these on release week but with crappy sales I passed till much better deals came along):

Dark Phoenix
Spiderverse
Far From Home
Captain Marvel
Bumblebee
John Wick 3
Venom
Shaft 2019
Toy Story 4
Halloween 2018
Pet Sematary
MIB International
Rush Hour BR Trilogy

As far as actually watched from the shopping trip:

Pet Sematary/BR
--Man, I just loved this horror movie. I had no attachment to the original so I didn't get it on BR.

Captain Marvell/BR
--I wanted the complete MCU set and I only lacked this one. I'd put it to the mid lower tier of the movies in the group. I think there are key story point to revisit from this movie but I kind of found the Skrull/Kree/Human play on power transfers, motives for actions, and who fights for what kind of confusing to some degree but I did think the Nick Fury and Captain Marvel focus was a good move.

John Wick 3/BR
--#3 makes my T10 most bad ass action movies of all time easily. It will be interesting to see how they play #4. I do find some of the above and below the "high table" and the "rules of engagement" and "the consecrated grounds of the Continental Hotel" kind of equally generic but interesting and the fact that over the three out how things came to resolution at the end of #3.

Bumblebee /BR
--After the Bay movies I thought it was a wise play to strip out all the extraneous stuff and go G1 for character designs, cut out the token love story angle, and tone down the Sector7 comic relief. Still though, as much as I love the G1 Transformers universe I still don't get how Bumblebee is the character they fixate on. That said, I don't necessarily mind a non Optimus Prime option.
I liked Captain Marvel.. But you're right it wasn't as good as some of the others.. I'd put it in there with the first 2 Thors..

JW3 was good. Some nitpick on it because of how good the first 2 were but I like how they dug into his past and try to relay it back.

I liked a lot better than xiii lol. But I have no attachment to the comic book story line. In the xmen cinematic universe I think x3, f4, wolverine, and apocalypse were bad.

My tops would be x2, Logan, first class, and days of Future past.

Spectre had a tough job in following up the EPIC Skyfall but this is looking good.

I bought the original Jumanji and Rambo: Last Blood the other night. Haven't watched them yet.

I did watch The Magnificent Seven with Denzel Washington. I thought it was a good movie. The chemistry between all the characters.. And Vincent D'Onofrio is excellent as the soft spoken mountain man.

RE: The movie thread
So....

Ghost in the Shell (live action) / BR
--Yes, I still prefer the original animated one but I don't think this one was bad. And a lot of the subtle details made it interesting for me as a fan of the series.

Lethal Weapon 2 and 3/BR
--2's dig at apartheid and the hot blonde chic make it stand out to me as one of the best in the series. 3 was pretty good with the bad cops and Rene Russo's character.

MiB International / BR
--Not sure why this movie got the hate it did. I personally find to be the best one outside of the first one. Not a bad collection of actors in it and I think Hemsworth and ______ have great chemistry together as already evidences in Thor Ragnarok.

Star Wars Ep1 / BR
--Not a bad start. I love me some Darth Maul. Jar Jar was in no way as bad as Maul going out like a b* to the sword of Obi Wan. Its still tough to be Anakin as a kid.

Star Wars Ep 2 /BR
--I still think this was the best of the prequel trilogy.

Star Wars Ep 3 / BR
--It had its moments but it also had its failures. I think one of its biggest issues though was it had to end a certain way and it had to cover some major plot points to properly set the course for what we see in IV.

This is a bad take. Monumentally bad. Inarguably bad. Regardless of what follows that statement. Maybe if you had said, "explosive diarrhea" or "The Battle of Gettysburg" or "the 2017 Browns" or something like that I MIGHT have agreed. I've been reading and commenting in this thread long enough to know that you are WAY more tolerant of bad movies or actors or dialog or plot but this takes the cake. Rambo: Last Blood- Digital- Can we be real for a minute, good let's be real. This movie got hate and I don't know why. Was it as good as First Blood, no. First Blood was a very unique movie. Was it as bad as Rambo III, no only Rocky V is that bad. There could've been more story but all in all it wasn't bad. I liked it. Let's remember Stallone and the Rambo character are in their 70s so the days of him running all over the place and killing folks is over.

DM went out like a *****..... that, is in no way as bad as Jar Jar LOL.

I didn't quite hate it but after the bad assness of Rambo IV this movie was a let down.
I mean, my man is digging tunnels in his own yard just because? And it was almost just a set up for the end game action set piece. I could kind of buy the plot but they somehow just totally dropped off the human trafficking angle with the lady journalist and moved it over to a straight revenge piece. I think the narrative of the movie just didn't gel well.

Well Rambo movies aren't exactly thought provoking movies to me.. To me they're more of the action flick, good guy vs bad guy thing..

My favorite of all time was Rocky.. It was a story.. A struggle.. Except Rocky 5.. That movie sucked with Tommy Morrison.

Went back in anticipation of "The Rise of Skywalker".

The Force Awakens- I've watched this one in the theater and a few times at home. Yea it has the same basic formula as a New Hope. I do like it though. The new characters. The nostalgia..

The Last Jedi- Same as above... I didn't like some of the whole "Leia flying through space" or the whole thing with Del Torro.. I mean why make his character be this code breaker with a bad stutter, kinda lost me on that guy.

RE: The movie thread
Star Wars Ep IV-VIII/BR
--prepped for Rise of Skywalker

Solo / BR
--Just wanted to watch again after Lando's appearance in RoS lol.

Star Wars Rise of Skywalker/ theater
--liked it. didn't get all of hits hate but I do get the sentiment that it felt like a reaction to the hate from TLJ. Lots of interesting points brought up, lots of interesting story arcs, but it did feel kind of hodgepodge in sports.

Lethal Weapon 3/BR
--I really liked it and I liked Rene Russo's addition to the cast.

Spaceballs / BR
--Just wanted to watch again LOL.

Klaus/ NetFlix
--A very interesting tale about how a ice and snow covered island with two conflicting families ends up being brought together with the new postman who finds a way to get things going in the right direction with getting a wood worker in Klaus to make some toys to help him with his mail business. The turn of events at the end kind of comes across as a traditional Christmas movie miracle fodder but I did like it.

Elf/BR
--finally watched it. IT was actually good. I didn't find Will Farrell annoying in it!

Batman The Animated Series S2 partial / BR
--still loving it.

Batman (60s tv show) / BR
--good stuff. going through more episodes again.

Fifty Shades trilogy/BR
--Borderline softcore LOL. I'm still kind of miffed with how it started that Christian Grey wasn't some kind of serial killer.

Halloween 2019/BR
--Aside from the retconning the series after the original, I thought the movie was pretty solid and they made a lot of good moves for the story.

Die Hard 2/BR
--A great Christmas movie.

A Nightmare Before Christmas/BR
--visually stunning. I had somehow forgotten it was kind more musical than I remembered.

Hobbs and Shaw/ BR
--I think there is merit in The Rock and Jason Statham doing an action flick together. I think they can totally pull off a buddy comedy kind of movie as well. I liked the setup story arc and how they played it out but I think its better if you go in wanting that over the top action buddy comedy jones satisfied with a Fast and Furious backdrop.

The World is Not Enough/dvd
--Christmas only comes once a year, or so Bond told me in this movie LOL. I actually did find the dynamic of M and ___ with her dad as part of it a very interesting way to do a story. Also, how the villain played into the story with Stockholm Syndrome.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service / dvd
--Just kind of wanted to watch a winter themed Bond movie. I kind of liked Savalas as Blowfeld and I didn't think Lazenby did a bad job as Bond, but its kind of sad that in his one off it happens to be one of the more important Bond movies story wise because he got married in it and she died.

RE: The movie thread
I watched a good bit of movies in the last week. Mostly Christmas.. That being said I'm ranking my favorite Christmas movies:

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
A Charlie Brown Christmas
It's a Wonderful Life
Home Alone
A Christmas Story
Home Alone 2
The Santa Clause
The Santa Clause 2
A Muppet Christmas Carol
The Grinch (Jim Carrey)
Noelle (Disney + original)
The Santa Clause 3

I also watched

6 Underground (Netflix)- Good movie and good characters. Shouldn't be a sequel because while I liked it, I don't see a need for another one.

Jumanji (Digital)- Not alot of love for this one per Rotten Tomatoes, but I sat down and watched it last night and really enjoyed it. I've seen it a few times but never really paid attention or didn't remember it. I don't know if it's because I miss Robin Williams or what, but I really liked it.

Rise of Skywalker (Theaters)- See my review in the Star Wars thread.

On tap for the rest of the week:

Jumaji: Welcome to the Jungle
Venom
Rocky I, II, III, IV, V
Rocky Balboa
Creed 1 & 2

I bought all of the above digitally.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Prime) - Really enjoyed it. It does feel like a love letter from Tarantino to Hollywood (the first 2 acts anyway). I was most of the way through the movie thinking it didn't feel like a typical QT film, but the end surely has his fingerprints all over it. Terrific performances by DeCaprio and Pitt. Weird performance by Pacino. Damien Lewis does an INCREDIBLE Steve McQueen, and Bruce Dern was a big surprise. Margot Robbie is great as Sharon Tate. At first I didn't understand her role in the film but it becomes clear she's not there to move the plot but to be a kind of light, and she does that really well.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (Digital)- After watching the original and then watching this one, I do like how they give props to the original and while it's a sequel it can also be a stand alone. Plus hearing The Rock act like an insecure teenager is good. Plus Karen Gillan is hot when she's not bald and blue.

Venom (Digital)- Never saw this when it came out and got a good deal on it, I mean it's Marvel. Honestly I felt like it was a little slow until the last 20-30 minutes. But I'm hoping the build up from that will carry on to a sequel. We'll see

To be fair, I don't think the movie was bad, but it was HUGE letdown for me after having Hateful Eight, Django Unchained, and Inglorious Basterds. And you are right, the end is the only part that felt like traditional Tarantino. I'm waiting on a HUGE sale before I buy.

Rocky 1-4 (Digital)- By far my favorite of the Rocky movies. I think I've reviewed here before so I won't re-hash
Rocky 5 (Digital)- Not my favorite. Again won't re-hash.
Bumblebee (Prime)- I like the Transformer movies, and this one wasn't any different. Good movie and a good prequel to the series.

I've been binge watching Letterkenny on Hulu. Holy cow.

Toy Story 4/BR

Den of Thieves / Showtime
