Give Notre Dame the ultimatum now!
Give Notre Dame the ultimatum now and make them choose all or nothing. When they say no, you cut your losses with them. They become the sacrificial lamb for the Big 10 and it might water-down their expansion. Now you have a spot for a full member. Add the full member asap and get them to BCS quality. Then if the Big Ten still continues to expand then the Big East is a bit more prepared for a hit.

Yeah, and actually, I go back and forth on whether ND's practically defiant stand on remaining independent for football hurts or helps the Big East.

It may actually help.

I think if you can force Notre Dame into a conference then Army and Navy will follow suit. But if you think having Notre Dame in the hybrid is a benefit then the argument is useless.

RE: Give Notre Dame the ultimatum now!
Put the crack pipe down. I don't even get this? Notre Dame is the only team in a position to stadn up to the Big Ten. ND has definitely had a chance to help us in the past and didn't step up, but right now they are the only chance we have of surviving. What ultimatum are you going to give them? If they join a conference, it will be the one that pays five times as much as we currently do. That is abotu the most idiotic suggestion I have ever heard.

Had this ultimatim been given a few years ago, when no one else was lookingn to expand, and no one else would take a partial membership, it may, and I stress may, have worked. But now, doing so would just be sealing your own fate.
