April 20 Expansion Updates
I figured it was appropriate to start one thread for any small updates we hear today. If something huge comes out, then by all means, start a new thread!

Post by the ESPN's Pac 10 blogger:

Pac 10 taking backseat to Big 10

Interesting speculation regarding conference movement. Seems to be a general trend towards massive realignment, rather than just the Big 10 moving.

It's all the same old speculation. He didn't really add anything of substance about why anyone would make a specific move. Truth is, nobody knows anything, until the B10 officially announces something.

Delaney is playing the song "I got 5 on it" today. 4/20 & expansion.

RE: April 20 Expansion Updates
It makes sense for the Pac-10 to wait for the Big 10 to move. If the Big 10 takes Nebraska and/or Missouri, it would make the Pac-10's arguments to sway Colorado all the more compelling.

Pac 10 commish: Expansion not needed

This does not mean that they are not looking at expansion. Apparently, however, they do not feel the need to add teams, even if the Big 10 ends up at 16.

To emphasize a point made in that blog: The Pac 10 (or any conference, for that matter), will only add teams if it means more revenue per team.

Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez unaware of change in expansion timetable

Contradicts the original report by the Chicago Tribune.

Hmmmm...nothing to report. Perhaps the Presidents of the Big 11 aren't fond of the idea of expansion. Maybe they don't want a change in their academic consortium.

Alvarez and Izzo both have balked at the idea of expansion, and I have to wonder how much they have of the ear of the powers-that-be at their various universities?

Don't know about Izzo but Alvarez has been, and still is, a proponent of expansion. Very much so.

Right, Alvarez seems to be for expansion. All I've seen publicly from him lately is a statement that the timetable hasn't changed.

Really?? last quote I remember from him was a quote was something along the lines about "why should we break the pie into smaller pieces". (oops.. nvm, it wasn't Alvarez.. looks like it was the Northwestern AD that was opposed ... article I was reading was misleading)
