Just a bit of contrast between Mickelson and Tiger
So much irony at the end of the Masters. First of all, Tiger finishes tied for 4th (pretty damn good considering what he's gone through the last five months) and he gets the obligatory CBS interview. His answers were fine although he mis-interpreted a question from Peter Kostis about the difference between keeping his emotions in check and eliminating them altogether.
Then 5 minutes later, Mickelson wins his third Masters and embraces his wife Amy (who I guess is making her first public appearance since her breast cancer diagnosis?). All I could think was good for him, and them. But also, what happened if Tiger had won, who would have embraced him? His caddy, and maybe his mom, but Elin wasn't there.
Anyway, congrats to Mickelson for a tournament win for the ages.

I really wanted to see Tiger win, but for Phil to win is a great story. Congratulations to Phil and prayers and best wishes for Amy. And Tiger and Elin.

I used to be a huge Tiger fan, but I've been cooling to him for the past few years. I feel that Phil loves the game, but Tiger loves to dominate. And to me, that just makes one a lot more enjoyable to watch than the other.

Pardon me for asking: but what exactly was ironic[i] about any of that?

RE: Just a bit of contrast between Mickelson and Tiger
Quote:Ironic - Both coincidental and contradictory in a humorous or poignant and extremely improbable way.
"It is ironic that Einstein, who was such a revolutionary young man, was reduced to irrational denial of quantum mechanics in his later years
Tiger - an admitted adulterer is interviewed by CBS and minutes later, Phil wins and then embraces his wife in one of the more touching family moments seen in sports in a bit (comparable to Favre's MNF performance after his dad died, Davis Love Jr. winning the U.S. Open on Fathers Day with a rainbow at the end, etc.).
Certainly Mickelson might be a horrible husband too. He has his faults like everyone else but I suspect his biggest vice is gambling and not being a philanderer. I guess I'm a little partial to Phil over Tiger because I met him and his wife on my honeymoon at Atlantis and they were very nice to my wife and myself (and he was a constant fixture in the casino's high roller room).
I thought it was a pretty self-explanatory observation on my part but I put it here just because it was a bit of a dig at Tiger.
