They lost Latisha Belcher - had no real replacement the whole year.

While the Lady Bucs RPI was the same last year as this year (67) the A-Sun's womens conference RPI fell from 16 last year to 24 this year.

14 is not a bad seed, but I was hoping for a 13. Xavier's a really good squad, but this is a game we can win.

The conference RPI did drop, but another thing that hurt us was we only had two out of conference wins - Chatt and Hawaii. We did play a tough schedule though, but we lost bad to a few teams. On the up side, we have won ten in a row and 19 out of the last 20.

It's going to be tough. We don't have a lot of size and Xavier went undefeated in the A-10 this year. They also have the conference player of the year who is a 6'5" forward and their second leading scorer is a 6'6" center. We're going to have trouble matching their size. We need to get out in transition and run which is our strength, because I think we'll have trouble in the half-court offense.

Chatt won and they're a 13. We did thrash them by 24 here in the Dome way back at the beginning of the season.

One spot higher then the Mighty A-Sun even though ETSU whipped Chattanoga this year. Guess it has has something to do with SoCon's 17 RPI vs the A-Sun's 24th. That gave a UTC a 64 RPI to ETSU's 67.

That's funny. ETSU beats Chatt. by 24 and has a lower RPI. Anybody want to post the SOS?

I saw Kemp on the news tonight and she actually said (very slightly paraphrasing, possibly) "It's in Cincinnati, so I hope we can make it like a home crowd. Cincinnati is close, so hopefully a lot of our fans can make it up."
Surely she knows where (this) Xavier is.........
........but it sort of sounded like she didn't........ I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt, however.......

I am sure she know where it is but she is hoping to get alot of fans to come up and sort the team.
What I don't understand is how Xavier ranked 5th in both polls slid to a 3rd seed. The 4 teams ranked ahead of them are the 4 1 seeds.

RE: #14 Lady Bucs to play #3 Xavier
This is a very tough matchup for us -

It's a home game for Xavier in Cincinnati - like scheduling one for ETSU at Freedom Hall.

Their strength is our weakness: two post players who go 6'5" and 6'6". We lost our all-conference post player, Latisha Belcher, to an ACL the first game of the season and have been making due with 2 freshmen and a 5'10" sophomore in Gwen Washington. The UNF game was a good reminder of how we can struggle to defend even 6'2" post players. As might be expected, Xavier crushes opponents on the boards 44.1 to 32.9 and outscores them 72.0 to 56.6.

Collapsing defenses set up the three, and Xavier has 3 guards who shoot from .361 to .427.

However they are vulnerable to turnovers and steals: making 504 turnovers to their opponents 473, and losing 262 steals to their opponents while getting only 222. The Lady Bucs have snatched 303 steals, forcing 578 turnovers.

We'll need to play the way we did the first 15 minutes against UNF, with pressure defense on their guards, trying to force turnovers and steals to turn into transition baskets. In the halfcourt, we'll need a lot of good ball movement, and hope that Siarre and Taronda can create off the dribble for mid-range shots, and that the Lady Bucs have a good day from 3 (Taronda .419; Siarre .385; Gwen Washington .381; Tara Davis .326.).

couple of things to focus on - look hard at non-conference strength of schedule. committee does not look one bit at what a conference is ranked. also - etsu could very well be a 15 or a 13 and utc could be a 14 or a 12 since teams can get moved up or down one line in the bracket.

Chattanoga is in the conference with the much higher RPI. I would bet that that means their SoS is much higher thenETSU since they play in a tough league.
Chattanoga SoS=156
ETSU SoS=203

Its worse than scheduling a game at Freedom Hall, the Cintas Center in on Xavier's campus.

Its like scheduling an NCAA game at the dome.
