Wow. FF to the ~7 min mark and listen from there. Doesn't sound much like something he just dreamed up 10 minutes before he sat down.....

He pretty much sounded like conceding to going to another conference.....now does he know anything or not, but he sounded pretty sure something was changing for WVU...and the ACC sound like his new home.

"Wow" is right. He definitely didn't just dream this stuff up.

Well, I hope the ACC has the good sense to invite UConn and West Virginia. That said, it sounds like Stewart would lobby, and rightfully so, for the SEC.

Wow.

Not good man not good. The eastern conference just got the last nail in the coffin. If only I were some high powered rich individual I'd try and stop this and get the right pieces in play.

Based on whats coming out of the media outlets in house (BE) and exterior (MWC)

-Big East may be quiet because they can't come up with anything and are conceding to just being a basketball conference
-MWC could in fact take BCS tag from BE with being proactive and adding 3 schools in the west to balance the nation in BCS
-B10 could be taking B12 teams and up to 3 from BE and the other 5 scattering
-B12 to take some BE teams and TCU/Memphis
-ACC to take UConn and WVU
-SEC may start making a play for 2

As an ACC fan, the last thing I want to see is the SEC grabbing West Virginia. That'll pretty much relegate the ACC, as a football conference, to BCS-lite status.

Well, officially.

that was from a horses mouth to boot not a blogger, not a rumor , just kind of matter of fact from his
mouth and he didn't even wink or dodge the question...

I agree w/ most fans on the Big East main board here. I think he's speculating more than anything right now.

We usually agree, but not this time. Go back and listen and watch his body language. He says, "It's a shame..." I think he's convinced it's happening. Certainly didn't sound like speculation, and he wasn't really happy.

None of us know anything for certain, but that can be read both ways. I sure as hell don't want the BE to disband, but that's what I got out of it.

We ARE talking about Bill Stewart here. While I think he'd be a great neighbor, I don't consider him the brightest light in the room, but you never know. He could be right by accident.

RE: adding anyone to the ACC...

Swofford was on the radio (99.9 the FAN) today in Raleigh, and he flat out said going above 12 doesn't make sense. He basically said that - historically - when [all-sports] conferences grow beyond 12 members, there are too many conflicts of interest and that the leagues eventually split... cited the ACC forming out of the overgrown Southern Conference as an example.

IMO- the ACC is the biggest threat in killing off the BE. If they do not expand and the B10 takes only 1 or 2, the BE will add schools as your own and proceed in some form or fashion. The ACC is by biggest worry.

I think a large part of our fan base would prefer the ACC...West Virginia would fit like a glove with Va Tech, Maryland, Virginia etc
