This relates to the earlier concerns about the mistakes by broadcasters with our school name. All of you can rest assured that we have -- multiple times -- released requests for the news media to refer to us as either East Tennessee State University or ETSU. And to use Buccaneers on first reference, followed by the admissable use of Bucs as well.

In score bugs, we have consistently asked for ETSU.

They are all well aware of this, in particular ESPN and CBS at this time of year. This, however, does not stop some of those broadcasters or the producers in studio building the graphics, from making mistakes.

But from our end, we have made this clear and it is our request/policy.

And what does that tell you?

When you're in the A-Sun, people don't pay any attention to you.

Unfortunately, it was the same when we were in the Southern also.

I think this is part of the issue that leads to confusion, the multiple choices lead to multiple names and our name being butchered.

It should be just ETSU or first reference as Bucs.

We have consistently pushed for the use of ETSU. That is being done. But as for Buccaneers, that is who we are and the school's official mascot. That is most always correct in stories and broadcasts, and then Bucs is what most reporters use the rest of the way through their stories.

Just fix it, call someone out on the air for it. Chancellor Peacock has done it at App for the incorrect use of the long A.

I didn't listen to every word, but I didn't hear it mispronounced or misused during the CBS seeding show or the ESPN show that followed. One of the problems is that it is too long - East Tennessee State University - so you see E. Tennessee or E. Tenn and the announcer has to guess if the E if for East or Eastern. Let's change it to something else or just use ETSU.
