PAPPY's blog
I was reading his blog this afternoon, and he questioned whether some of us who dislike Shields, dislike him more for his style of play more so than for his won and loss record. I do prefer a more up-tempo game, personally, but not run and gun playground ball, but If you've been reading this board on a regular basis, you'll know that I really didn't complain much about Shields up until about two years ago. When we were winning 18 games or so for a while, I thought perhaps that he could eventually get us to the tournament. I finally decided that he won't ever get us there, not necessarily because of the his style of play, but because he can't recruit the caliber of players necessary to beat the better teams in the league. This season just added fuel to the fire. Good programs led by good coaches don't go from twenty plus wins to twenty plus losses in one year. You can have down years in a good program, but not years that end up looking like a train wreck. Just want to clear that up with PAPPY why I am past ready for a change in coaches. Seven years is enough time to get it done. If he can't do it in seven years, the chances are slim that he ever will.

That has been my complaint this season. Shields did not do a very good job of coaching, even given the injury problems. You had the feel that things were in a bad spiral. He coached well in other seasons, but not this one.

Something's going on. What it is we will find out in due time. Something has got to give. I can't wait. I want answers NOW. Call a press conference and spill the beans.

What, to say that November will be here after October..? I don't remember our AD calling a presser last year to say will be playing again in November, and I don't expect him to do so this year either.
