If ND leaves football independence, would NAVY consider it?
I know that Navy has enjoyed its independence, much like Notre Dame has, and that has been a prominent reason for many to think they'd turn down a Big East invite.

But .... if Notre Dame finally joins the Big Ten, would that give Navy some pause, and would they consider a football-only spot in the Big East?

I think if ND were to take all their programs from the Big East for a new home in the Big Ten, that the Big East would look to fill that spot with a Memphis, ECU, UCF, TCU type school. But, adding a 10th football only member with the tradition, geography, national presence, and recent success of Navy would strengthen the football side of the conference too.

And, Notre Dame leaving tilts the balance of power in the Big East to 8 - 7 in favor of football schools. So ... you'd figure that the footballers would be able to push their agenda a little more than in the past.

Just a thought that occured to me, that I figured would get some feedback over here.

I think Navy would be a great pick up for the Big East , I have a friend in the Navy and Airforce and
have asked them about why join, not join conference topic.. Both said about the same thing
They don't care what conference or if any at all they just want to beat each other. Navy friend said all
they cared about was beating Army and Airforce. Those are games they circle on their calender..
I liked Army in CUSA but they left

The Big East would be bad for Navy.

Im really not sure why the big east would even want navy. Adding a FB only team would just make our hybrid even worse. Id much rather eventually move towards 12 all sport or a 12/16 hybrid

...and their AD said as much in a newspaper article from a year or so ago. Pretty much said that they would not be able to compete at the Big East level week-in and week-out, and aside from that, they obviously enjoy their freedom in scheduling......they don't "need" conference affiliation.....

I think more than just the Army and Air Force games, the biggest reason they won't join a conference because the money doesn't matter.

They have zero problem scheduling whoever they want, and get bowl deals every year. Navy is working well as an independent - no reason they would want to be in the Big East. And that would be true regardless of what ND does.
