ETSU Baseball is Back
Even though it doesn't quite feel like baseball season, the ETSU Bucs headed to Charleston, SC today to play their weekend series at The Citadel which starts Friday. The Bucs are headlined with All-Americans and Newcomers so it should be a fresh look to the season.

The Bucs will face an early challenge with The Citadel. They will be facing a highly touted pitcher with a fastball said to be clocked as high as 97 mph. The Bucs will have to shake off the snow early in order to compete with the Bulldogs. This weekend the Bucs will also face Kansas State and Delware.

Best of luck to the Bucs on the upcoming season.

If they have a winning record at the end of the season I'll be shocked.

The power of positive thinking... The baseball team maybe weak as far as I know. They always seem to do well against Tennessee though...

Yeah so Tennessee won't schedule us anymore. If the Bucs have another terrible year, I'd say Skole is gone.

Yeah it is definitley going to be a battle for the Bucs. They lost a lot of senior leadership last year, but they definitely brought in a bunch of young talent. ETSU has done well against Tennessee in the past 4 years; beating them 4 times in the past two years. Raleigh probably realized it was in his best interest not to schedule the Bucs anymore.

RE: ETSU Baseball is Back
The Bucs are going to be challenged this weekend mainly because the weather has been so bad, but they are going to have a breakout season in 2010. I have seen first hand the improvements that the coaching staff has made in player personnel. The players that they have added this year, and the recruits that have committed for next year are phenominal baseball players. The players they have coming in could play anywhere. ETSU has tremendous facilities and sports technology. The University is committed to winning. They have beat Tennessee 4 out of the last 5 games not because they were lucky. The reason is, is that ETSU can be very good. They just have to work on being consistant. The SEC really doesn't mean a whole lot in baseball. Maybe in football or basketball, but in the great game of baseball... it is all about pitching. A Division I pitcher can dominate anybody on any given day no matter what conference they are playing against. Walters State Senators give the Tennessee Smokies all they want year after year. Like anything... you have to have a positive mental attitude. Look for ETSU to win the Atlantic Sun Conference this year. They came close last year :)
Go Bucs!

The new baseball park is going to be amazing! It will be ready to play baseball in fall 2010. Have you actually seen what equipment and sports technology that ETSU athletes have available to them inside the Dome? Did you know that ETSU has a $10 million Dollar Coke contract that supplies Powerade 24/7 to each and every athlete? Day or night. The medical and rehab facilities are amazing. Weight room facilities are great the way they are, but are all getting a $200,000 upgrade. I don't know what more you could want.

The Bucs will be much improved, and I love to see them win the conference this year but I don't really see that happening. FGCU and UNF are eligible this year. FGCU has won the regular season the last two years and they are loaded with talent. Also, only 6 teams get to the conference tourney this year. I think we could see a vastly improved Bucs team and still be missing out on the conference tourney.

How about a 1AA football team on the field and a basketball team that does not get out-coached practically every game?

The Bucs did come close last year to winning a conference championship. They battled Lipscomb and their first round draft pick pitcher in the semi-final game in DeLand last May...so it is all about getting hot late in the year. The Bucs just need to focus on making the conference tournament and playing their best baseball late in the year. The start of baseball season is in my opinion the best time of the year. It is a shame that ESPN/Sportscenter does not even mention the fact that today is opening day.

I actually care about college baseball and I could see the day when the Bucs are the only team in the area.

Beating UT, even though I believe ETSU started a scholarship pitcher against a non-scholarship pitcher, was sweet last year.

Though the overall record has been disapointing in recent times, I would hope that the baseball team showed that ETSU can compete with major colleges.

they were 10-20 in the conference last year, that is real close to winning it. They wouldn't even had made the tournament if all the teams had been able to play in it. They lost in the semi-finals to the team who lost in the finals. Yeah that is really close to winning it.
Oh yeah and coach's poll has them picked 9th.

You can't say that UT didn't throw their number one arms against ETSU last year. UT threw all of their weekend starters including their All-American Bryan Morgado...and the Bucs still won.

They lost in the ninth inning to the defeding A-Sun champions. ETSU did what they had to do to make the tournament. The 10-20 record was all they needed to get in. Once they were there they beat the host team Stetson in front of their home crowd and hung with Lipscomb (The defending champions and Rex Brothers 1st Round Draft Pick) till the final inning. That's pretty good for a 10-20 team.

RE: ETSU Baseball is Back
The world needs to know that Tennessee is to chicken to play ETSU in baseball. Of course Tennessee might attempt to get revenge by using it's almighty power to penalize the Bucs. Perhaps the legislature needs to get involved as they have in other states to insure the have nots get their chance against the haves.
