RE: UK trailing in second half at Starkville
I was unaware MSU was playing last night- did see the end of the game after King of the Hill- while channel surfing. MSU went up 7 then did very little.
However...
Listening to Wolken show right now- after MSU went up 7...MSU called for 10 fouls...ky called for ZERO fouls. They are also talking about a missed goaltend and what Wolken claimed was a ridiculous missed charge on Patterson.
Refs tend to even out throughout a game- but those stats and info- accompanied with Varnado fouling out? makes for an odd trend. Refs do not cheat. But they are human and subject to being influenced- and the trend to keep a game alive (close calls called benefitting the trailing team- right Ed HIGHTOWER?????) and while I did not watch the end of the game with same eyes as a Wolken- this is disturbing.

Vanardos fifth foul was one that could have been let go but it was definitely a foul. I would have let it go since it didnt affect the play an he had four fouls. They barrage of fouls late in the game called against MSU were fouls, however, there were some questionable blocked shots by UK that could have been called fouls as well. nothing really blatant but they should have gotten a few fouls on UK since the foul count was ridiculously lopsided in the final eight minutes.

Were you watching the same game? The Bost charge on Cousins could have gone either way (would have been Cousins' 5th), Patterson CLEARLY charged on Osby by lowering his shoulder while Osby had position (the ESPN announcers even thought it was a charge), Barry Stewart's 4th foul was COMPLETELY phantom. He touched the ball (barely) on Wall's way up and they called a foul that resulted in a 3 point play. Stewart's 5th foul was also questionable although there was no good camera angle, it looked like he didn't touch him (Wall's shot missed badly though which makes you think he probably did foul).
Not to mention the goaltending that was not called. Had they called that, Augustus' 3 would have tied the game with around 30 seconds left. I don't like blaming the refs but that was bad last night. I'm also probably just bitter being a Memphis fan and a State fan. I hate Cal and his team.

Patterson definitely charged and considering the lopsided foul count, they should have gone the other way with it. I didnt think it was goaltending either. And even if it was close, theyre instructed to not call it unless its obvious. The ball was hit before it hit the backboard as well. My main concern was the fouls and that every single "questionable" foul whether block/charge or ligh contact on a block attempt all went in favor of UK. That was a bit disturbing.
