RE: East Owns Power Rankings
This is the one time where I would think the standings would be the rankings. The reason I say that is that every team in the league has played every other team exactly one time. The only unequal factor is that some times have had 6 home games and others have had 5, which might be the tiebreaker if teams had identical records.

RE: East Owns Power Rankings
One reason, which I have never seen anyone else comment on, for Miami starting very slowly this year, is that the three guys that are carrying our team (averaging over 35mpg over our 5 game winning streak) all had offseason surgery and were unable to work out this summer or even in the fall. Kenny Hayes started working out about the time official practice started, Julian Mavunga started working out a couple of weeks into practice, and Antonio Ballard started working out about a week before our first game. Neither Ballard or Mavunga were starters in the first month of the season. Now these three guys are back on top of their games and they have been carrying us.
