RE: Official 2011 Football Recruiting Thread
Well here's an interesting twist to a player almost literally on NIU's sideline. Graham Glasgow, from Marmion and parents are the team doctors, was planning on walking on at Minny and now according to Chris Pool, Ohio State is looking at him. Doc Tressel was at Marmion watching BBALL practice. Pool says that he was referred to OSU by Kurt Becker, former Bear and Wolverine who is the line coach at Marmion. Don't know the extent to which OSU is interested but he may be a fall back if the don't get the #1 rated Olineman from DC.

It seems like every year there's a wallflower who transforms into the cutest girl at the dance late in the recruiting cycle and suddenly everyone needs to dance with her. This year it's Graham Glasgow, last year it was Fabbiens Ebelle. It will be interesting to see if these guys succeed. I think schools take a flyer on them because they're big and that makes some sense, although maybe not on full scholly to a BCS school. I can understand taking a shot with a preferred walkon. This, I don't know.

Re Glasgow, I have no idea how good he is, but Tressel was at his BB practice to see how well he can move. Tressel like everyone else wants to recruit ATHLETES. Gotta to have the feet. That is why I was so impressed that we were able to recruit 6'7 260 lb walk-on OT who averaged 17pts per game in HS...Ryan Brown..... That is impressive recruiting. Shocked we got an athlete of that quality to walk on.

Is this one 'too crazy to call' recruiting story?
Anyone think EMU is still has a shot at him as a scholarship athlete?
(as of now, we have 6 h.s. kids from IL + a Harper JUCO).

Larry Franklin committed to Vanderbilt.
I am worried about the DB position. Lemon and Garland played safety in high school, which means it's unlikely for them to start at DB this fall. Hopefully RS Sophomore Sean Evans or Dominique Ware can step up

Ageed but I did notice Wonderful Terry and one of the other Florida kids did play DB as well, and he has the ideal size for that postion. The coaching staff may have sights on converting these kids over. Also, the Daniels kid who did the end arounds this year had some experience in HS as well. So things may not be as dire at this postion as we are thinking.

Anyone hear if we were recruiting Texas at all? I was hoping to build upon the pipeline Kill established with the Texas WR's we brought here. Hopefully DD is on it.

In the rivals article about Wonderful, he said that he will play WR and do kick returns. Akeem Daniels did play some DB in high school, but he's only 5'7 or 5'8.

With a whole year under his belt I am looking for Coach D to dig into Illinois. We need to get the best of the state at least our fair share. Then expand to the other states. I would always like to see at least half our recrits from Ill, but they have to be players.

+1
This is in our best LONG TERM interests. I am impressed with UCF's recruiting as a non BCS school that can compete in their own market and win battles against SEC competition. This is should be our goal as a FB team and a university. to win battles against the BIG10 inour market. NIU has something significant to offer and we have to start capitalizing.

I don't know how much stock I can put into this but it looks like we got a new commit. Devin Rose a QB from Kansas, he tweeted it. If this was confirmed on rivals or scout, I would have made a thread for him

I guess this is him:
http://www.ncsasports.org/college-recrui...devin-rose
Not much information out there. I guess it's somewhat believable in that his other tweets talk about being in Chicago this past weekend. You never know could be potential walk on, could be an Athlete, who knows. I guess we'll find out more soon enough if this is true.

I would think he is being recruited for a differenrt position than QB. DD seems to be picking up athletes with multiple talents.

yeah it says he is 6'0" 172 lbs. if so, very doubtful he is coming here to play QB. seems like a good athlete on film though

Remember, a lot of QBs change positions. QB in hs controls the offense. Want your best athlete there.
