Well...LET'S GRADE US EARLY ON...
How did we do?

Obviously, time will tell...I get that, and moreover...we well understand that scouting reports and services are right on the money....that being said..

I'm not that happy. No, not terribly upset but my hopes and expectations early on were not met.

I wanted to see a WOW class or perhaps a few notches below. So far, I don't see it.

Toledo got the wow class (I understand that we'll wait and see) and perhaps others a notch below. At best, we seem to be middle of the MAC pack.

It's what we do with our recruits that matters perhaps most, but on paper alone...I give us a C for those we managed to sign.

I'm pretty happy with who we got. We had to fill holes on the O-line, and I think we did that well. This will hopefully help our running game and give the QB more time to throw. I would have liked to see more help at WR. Although there are no apparent playmakers on paper, time will tell. I think we will see some surprises on the field. Overall grade: B+.

RE: Well...LET'S GRADE US EARLY ON...
Saw a lot of things I like, especially on the defensive end.. but I feel like we definitely did not fill our biggest hole. I see no incoming offensive coordinators, not a single OC, even one to redshirt.. I was really hoping to get at least a 3 or 4 star play caller for the 2010 season.

This could continue to be the Huskies downfall. Hopefully these big names on defense can pick up the slack.

I really like the class you guys brought in. A lot of high quality athletes. Keeping Bass was good for you guys. I like the defensive recruits more than the offensive, but hey......defense wins championships!

I give Kill a solid B. He got some athletes but lost a few late in the game. The loss of Osei is the biggest loss.

Huskies will likely be the favorite in the MAC West in 2010.I wouldn't worry about this year's class.Basically if you've got at least 8 guys that are significant contributors by their Jr. years that is a good recruiting class.I think NIU did that.

Someone posted an article earlier quoting PJ Fleck that NIU was only offering one WR scholarship with this class. I would assume they must feel that thery are pretty deep with what they have now. I hope so...

I'll leave on the sidelines any evaluation which would be relative to other classes across MAC ...and the more I keep many of my relatives out of my day, the better.

Is that a Groucho Marxism?

Was he a brother to Karl?

Yeah, but you have to remember that there are 3 pretty decent WRs that were in last year's class. I didn't think it was a huge priority. Obviously I would've loved Armand, don't get me wrong.

I like this class. Kill had a good plan for this years class. HE RECRUITED TO WIN NOW! They will be favorites in 2010 for th Mac West and he recruited accordingly. Good Job.... Well done.

RE: Well...LET'S GRADE US EARLY ON...
The Defense looks very good with 4 3*LB'ers, 4 DBs with a combo of speed and size, a sack specialist who needs to put on 15 lbs. without losing his speed, and Big Frank in the wings. On the offensive side we picked up 2 potential game breakers at RB and QB from the JC ranks. The O line looks athletic but will probably redshirt along with the QB. Kill likes to redshirt his QBs, I wish we had signed him in time for spring practice. He filled a need at TE where we had blocking but no catching options. WRs have some potential down the road. Our kicking game was looking inadequate, but we picked up a K and P. I think the coaches filled a lot of needs this year. I also agree that our OC should be reviewed and maybe he can be in charge of the running game and the new QB coach can run the passing game. I think Demarcus G. sees the field in the slot to use his many talents. He has to be on the field more. I love the fact that the QB coach has experience as an OC. Overall a B+. This is Kills best recruiting class and in my opinion potentially the best ever, time will tell.

Totally agree with that. I'm encouraged that there was at least a new QB coach brought in. Before the hire, I was resigned to the fact of another inept year in the passing game. Don't know how much of an impact he'll have, but at least it something to hang your hat on for the time being.

Is Osei the biggest non-NIU mystery on signing day?

What's up with that?

If the door remains open and bridges were not burned, how do you feel about him in a Huskie uniform?

If you could get inside his head, would he prefer being a benchwarmer in shambana vrs a schollie at NIU?

We have no frosh QB signees, right?

check these reports out. They put signing day into a different perspective & closer to mine.

Finally, not to throw cold water on parade of other fans for it's sweet to find this link & some props & respect from chi-town media. Writer Mitchell has often been atop NIU sports.

Ranked #83 on rivals. Interestingly enough Wisconsin was ranked #86. Not sure how rivals points are calculated...

#4 in the MAC

On the surface, Wisconsin being so low makes absolutely no sense. They are behind teams that have lower average ratings and have fewer commits. I know there is some secretive point system Rivals uses, but Wisconsin's ranking appears to be completely out of whack. They have significantly more 3-star players committed than any other team on that page and have more 3-star players than any of the schools on the page before (teams 51-75) as well.

If you go simply based on the star average, they are #52; the #86 would make sense if they only had 14-15 commits, but they don't, they have a perfectly normal number of 24.

maybe rivals does not know how it fell out either....

Rankings are kinda like having one foot in boiling tar and another in dry ice and having a body temp 0f 98.6 which really tells you nothing about anything.
