RE: BracketBuster
I think the expansion will happen soon with the opt-out in the TV contract coming. ESPN certainly wants a piece of the pie and NBC joining forces with Comcast could be a legitimate competitor in the upcoming decade with ESPN.

I don't think adding three teams adds value to the contract. That is essentially one or two nights. If you move to 96, that is two full extra days of action that could be put Tuesday and Wednesday at first and second round sites. That would really add value to the package.

RE: BracketBuster
From what I have heard and read, ESPN wants in the tourney bad, they could broadcast everygame on the family of networks ABC included. 96 teams would also eliminate alot of the bubble talk, especially with the mid-major teams.
and would add greater value to the $$. I think it will happen.

RE: BracketBuster
I suspect that expansion would be the death knell for at least one of the other three post-season tournaments. Maybe the NIT, which the NCAA now owns and which guarantees the regular season winners a birrth. Of course, someone else could take over the anachronistic NIT, and one of the others would be resigned to the dust bin of history. The net result would be no net increase in mid-majors going to a post-season tournament. Of course, it would still be advantageous, as going to THE NCAA tournament means much more than going to one of the other three.

RE: BracketBuster
I'm okay with the College Insider Tournament no longer existing. A 4th-tier consolation tournament doesn't do much for me. If you win that tournament all it really proves is that you are good enough to play in the 3rd-tier consolation tournament. I think if they are going to do even a second tournament, they should do a better job of designing it around mid-majors since there are a ton of very good ones that don't end up making it to the dance.

RE: BracketBuster
Buffalo at St. Peter's

Nevada, Utah St., La Tech and New Mexico St are WAC BB teams, which makes sense.
Murray St. has a game for the OVC, which makes sense.
Missouri St., Northern Iowa and Wichita St for the MVC, which makes sense.
Looks like Akron and Kent for the MAC, which makes sense.
Looks like just Butler and not Wright St. or UWGB in the Horizon.

I'm really curious about the CAA now...

RE: BracketBuster
Ok, so we have

WAC: Nevada, Utah St, La Tech and New Mexico St.
OVC: Murray St.
MVC: Missouri St., NIU and Wichita St.
MAC: Akron and Kent
Horizon: Butler
CAA: GMU, Northeastern, William and Mary, VCU and Old Dominion
MAAC: Siena and Iona

Current Open Questions: Big West (likely Pacific), Southern (likely CoC and Western Carolina) and who else (I say Morgan St).

Updated to move MAAC team in known...

Once you get into the middle of the pack and the nonTv games, it doesn't really matter what the RPI is. Most schools would prefer not to have a long road trip, I imagine. It is a mismatch this year, though.

So, care to explain Southeast Missouri State at Miami? That's a 9 hour drive!

I got them all right except for my final team was Morgan St. instead of Appy State, which to be totally honest really doesn't make that much sense to me.

RE: BracketBuster
I'm pretty convinced that something is wrong. If Appy State is in the bracket buster, we have too many home teams (12) and not enough road teams (10). I am discounted the Appy State thing as a mistake by the WCU website.

Looks like the last team is Morgan State:

That makes more sense.
