I wouldn't county my Big East membership egges before they hatch son. If the BE doomsdsay scenerio happens, there isn't going to be a Big East for you guys to join. If football schools split in approx 1 hr and added Memphis, UCF, ECU, and Temple in 2 hrs, its not going to add anymore stability than we have right now. If the Big 10/SEC/ACC calls a current school, its going to leave regardless of what our conference looks like. At this current moment Memphis is really better off making CUSA the best it can be.
Would your conference really dissolve? Or would the revenue sharing models change to adjust for any decreases in re-negotiated contracted amounts with your tv partners? Could something like "prove your worth before you see your fair share of this revenue pot" work in your conference? At least for the short term.

Heres the doomsday scenerio, Big 10 takes 3, ACC takes 2, SEC takes 2 which leaves 1 Big East school on the outside looking in. BE football would be eliminated.

It seems to be there is more and more chatter about this scenerio playing out. Who's gonna be the one left out in the cold if that happens?

Being a Pitt fan, why would you want Pitt not to be picked up by another BCS conference?

I was bullshitting man... But in all seriousness it'll be either Pitt or Cincy. Both are located within the Big 10 footprint. Cincy has been great as of late but don't have the tradition. Could even be USF being left out. Remember this is the worst case scenerio so it may probably not happen. Its just something Memphis, ECU, UCF, and Temple fans should think about.

I figured you weren't serious about that.
It is interesting how the chatter has gotten louder and louder, and with this scenerio possible now, I think you are absolutely correct that the "expansion candidate" schools for the BE should take note.
I hope this scenerio does not play out for the BE sake, however I do believe you are going to lose one school.
I liked your take earlier in another thread....Sit back with some popcorn and see how this plays out.
Good luck on the rest of Bball season.

RE: Why The Big East Will Have To Expand
If a full on multi conference raid takes place, USF, UL and UC could be left in a lurch. Don't see a natural fit for any of them in terms of conference footprint and university profile.

LOL, at 62 years of age, it is more likely that you are MY son (I liked yankee girls in my day).

You might be right about that, but my money is on the Big East keeping BCS status by the skin of it's teeth, and with the Tigers being a part. I think we will know by July.

Agreed, I've been suspecting for a while now that we 3 would be getting back together w/ at least some of our former Cusa mates at some point...

Screw that, I hope TJ is already working on a plan to get into the Big 12 if that is where we have to go. We know the B10/SEC won't want us. It will be up to the ACC and B12. There is an outside shot that the ACC may want us, a metro school like GT or Miami and a great bball program coupled with a good fball program. Means a new market for them as well.
More likely would be Big 12, where academics aren't in play as much, and its a new market for them as well.

Big 12 is not coming to Kentucky...or Ohio for that matter.
